MAURICE DAVID STEELE
Peacefully on July 9, 2022.
His memory will be cherished by his loving family - his wife, Patricia; daughters, Tamara, Illana, and Liora (I.D. Rusen); granddaughter, Samantha Steele- Mitchell; grandsons, Jacob Rusen-Steele, Noah Rusen-Steele, and Daniel Rusen-Steele; sister, Mira Spivak; brother Robert Steele (Judy).
He was predeceased by his parents, Manya and Samuel Steele; and his parents-in-law, Vera and Harold Korman.
Maurice will also be lovingly remembered by cousins, Freda Steel (David Gisser), Jason Gisser, Meira Gisser (David Rosenbaum); nieces and nephews, Lori Spivak (Gordon McKinnon), Harold Spivak, Diane Spivak (Laurie Goldberg), Charles Steele (Kaori Chigama), Leah Steele, and their families; cousins, Wendy Greene (John Dupuis) of Toronto, Arie and Itzik Amytai and their families of Israel.
A funeral service was held graveside at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery on July 12. Pallbearers were Jacob Rusen-Steele, Noah Rusen-Steele, Daniel Rusen-Steele, Leah Steele, Jason Gisser, and Andrew McKinnon. Honorary pallbearers were I.D. Rusen, David Gisser, Diane Spivak, Gordon McKinnon, Charles Steele, and Martin McGarry.
A fund in Maurice's honour has been established in support of the Archives at the Jewish Heritage Centre. Donations may be made to the Maurice Steele Fund at the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba at 204-477-7520 or:

Dear Patricia, I always admired and enjoyed you since first meeting at the public affairs committee. In later years we met in various social gatherings. It was then that I met Maurice. We spoke of the many memories of from our families of their experiences prior to coming to Canada. You two had a beautiful marriage and great warm loving family.
