ARTHUR WALTER KOPP
February 20, 1942 – July 20, 2022

It is with sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Art Kopp, age 80, on July 20 at Meadowood Manor.
Left to mourn his passing are his loving wife Adeline (nee Hintz), children, Shannon and Bradley (Joelle), grandchildren, Alex, Katie, Sarah, Ben and Sam, as well as his sister Lucy Sedo, brother Garry Kopp (Pat), along with brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and their families. He will be sadly missed by best friends, Bob and Shirley Wasyluk. Art was predeceased by his parents, Fred and Martha Kopp, siblings, Arnold Kopp and Jennie Leiman, and brothers-in-law, George Leiman and Arnold Sedo.
Art was born in Lydiatt and grew up in the Hazelridge area. He had an interest in all things mechanical, figuring out how stuff worked and how to fix it. This led to a lifetime of tinkering and repairing anything that had broken. His keen mind for math led to a career spanning 30 years with Weights and Measures for the federal government. He met the love of his life, Adeline, in 1964 and were wed in 1967. Other than a brief move to Edmonton for work, Art lived his entire adult life in Winnipeg. Summers were spent at Hillside Beach Trailer Park and many winters were spent in Puerto Vallarta. In his late 60s Art developed Parkinson's disease. Life slowed down and eventually he was placed in full time care. Dad was content and enjoyed every visit made by family and friends. As his health declined, Dad continued to embody a sense of grace and dignity. He was loved by all the staff, and we are so grateful for the excellent care, love and compassion that was shown to him while he was at Meadowood Manor.
A memorial service to celebrate Art's life will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 1311 Dakota Street, Winnipeg on Wednesday, July 27 at 1:00 p.m., with interment to follow at Green Acres Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Faith Lutheran Church Memorial Fund or to Parkinson Canada.

  • We were sorry to hear of the passing of Uncle Art. Although it has been quite some time since we have seen him, there are still many memories that will be cherished. Many from times when we were all much younger and growing up on the farm, times spent at family gatherings, the odd visit to Hillside Beach or the time he was in Calgary and called to get together. Arthur was one of the good ones and will be missed. I just got rid of a couple of 50 lb. weights that I kept in the car for weight and traction in the winters. Our deepest sympathies Auntie Adeline, Shannon, Brad and families on your loss. - Posted by: David & Maria Leiman (Nephew) on: Jul 28, 2022

  • I was so sorry to learn of Art’s passing and the poor health he had experienced in his later years. I worked with Art in the federal government for many years and knew him to be a very kind, decent and hard-working individual … one of the nicest people I worked with at Consumer and Corporate Affairs. He always spoke so highly of his family. Adeline, I’m sending my most heartfelt sympathy to you and Shannon and Bradley, and your entire family, at this sad time. God Bless you all! - Posted by: Jeanne Todoruk (Co-Worker / Friend) on: Jul 27, 2022
