(TOWNSEND)


It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Verna Hogsden on June 24, 2022 at the Luther Care Home at the age of 100.
Verna was predeceased by her husband Bill, son Charlie, daughter-in-law Lynn. She is survived by her son Barry (Val), grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Verna was a longtime member of Sparling United Church and a special thank-you goes to Rev. Scott MacAuley for his guidance and friendship through the years.
A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, August 9, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
The family would also like to thank the staff at the Luther Home for their kindness and compassion during Verna's time with them.

  • Sorry to hear of Verna's passing. Over the years, ANYTHING to do with Sparling, Verna was there! So on behalf of the Tottle family, and especially on behalf of Verna's long-time Woman's Group friend at Sparling, we share our many thoughts and fine recollections with you at this time.   • I will always remember both your mom and dad as they lived close to my parents home in Weston. They always walked past our house while walking to Old Bank Grocery store and they always stopped to talk. Many memories of them while growing up.   • I was so sad to hear of Aunt Verna's passing. I was grateful to be able to visit with her last year at the time of her 100th birthday while in Wpg. I have great memories of visiting her and the family at the house on Catherine Avenue.
