GERALDINE BARBARA LOMOW
(nee POPESKI)

Surrounded by family, at her cottage in Winnipeg Beach, Geraldine Barbara Lomow passed away peacefully on July 12, 2022.
Gerry was an amazing woman who poured out love to all those surrounding her. She was born on April 12, 1943 to Harvey and Rose Popeski in the North End of Winnipeg. She was the oldest of three: sister Susan (deceased), and brother Paul. Susan was often her sidekick, while she was like a second mother to Paul. She had a very close and extremely special relationship with both.
Gerry was a loving wife to Monty Lomow of 58 years. Their courtship began when she was 16, and never faded through all the years.
Gerry was a devoted mother to Mark and Jill, and believed in raising her children to be independent, caring, and self assured.
Gerry had several different career paths over her working years, among them an xray technician, a sales rep, and finally in an optical office.
She loved the people she worked with, and she became the resident den mother, which is no surprise because that's who she was.
She was a phenomenal cook always finding recipes and planning gourmet meals for any day of the week.
Gerry and Monty consider themselves foodies; being members of multiple Gourmet Dinner clubs and always seeking out the newest restaurants in Winnipeg and around the world.
Gerry loved to travel and from their 50s on her and Monty travelled extensively for long periods of time trying to live the life of the locals…places like South of France, India, China, Asia and South America.
She travelled to many of those places in her later years in a wheelchair or scooter but she was determined to experience everything she possibly could and not be hindered by anything.
She was an adoring grandmother to her five grandchildren: Jordan, Brendan, Adam, Ashlee, and Jett. Extremely committed to her grandchildren she hosted sleepovers most weekends as they grew, drove them wherever they needed to get to and loved every minute of it. Gerry had the great fortune to meet, hold and admire her great-granddaughter Aidan.
Some of the best memories will always be of our family gathering together at the cottage sitting at the dinner table eating our gourmet meals with Gerry at the head the table being involved in every conversation.

We love you Gerry, Mom, and Bobbi
and will miss you everyday.

Funeral was held Sunday, July 17 at Shaarey Zedek Memorial Park.
Donations can be made to the Women's Endowment Fund of the Jewish Foundation.
