JOAN SHERRITT
(nee WETTSTEIN)

Peacefully and in the blessing of her family's love, Joanie's life ended on July 19, 2022. She was 79.
Joanie will be deeply missed by her husband of 54 years, Don, children, Bill (Maryann), Mark ( Minta), NaRai (Max) and her cherished grandchildren, Sierra, Emilie, Kiara, Isadora, William, Izaiah, her twin brother Karl (Carol), her sister Margaret Ann (Ernie), her sisters-in-law, Lorraine and Liz (Kas), Aunt Elsa, as well, many nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours and friends.
Joan was predeceased by her mother Martha, her father John, her brother Lorne, and Don and Joan's son Kyle.
Born in Saskatoon in 1942, Joan grew up in Regina, battled and won her fight with polio and graduated high school from Luther College. She achieved her R.N. from the Winnipeg General Hospital. After graduation she enjoyed her responsibility as Head Nurse at Winnipeg Children's Hospital. Joan also worked at the Portage la Prairie District Hospital in MB, the Richmond Hospital in Richmond, BC, and as a Nurse Practitioner in Mississauga, ON.
Joan and Don met on a blind date in Winnipeg in 1967 and were married in 1968.
Joan was a special person, she was a loving and caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin and friend. Her love and care enveloped those around her and she was "mom" to so many, not just her own kids.
She was deeply loved and cherished by all of the people in her life. She will be truly missed because Joanie was always willing to help family and friends when they needed help. She was a true caregiver.
Joan is remembered for her warmth, her sense of humour and her infectious smile, for her beautiful artistic and fun pieces of landscape art, sports drawings and even a Happy Groundhog Day card. She was an accomplished cook, having studied in France at the La Varenne Cooking School.
The family is immensely grateful for the attentive and compassionate care provided by the staff of the Good Samaritan Delta View Care Centre and Delta Hospital, for neighbours and nursing friends, for all friends.
A service of remembrance will be held at Tsawwassen United Church, 693, 53 St., Delta BC, Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.
The service will be live streamed at https://www.legacystreaming.com/arbor-memorial-delta/.
Your thoughts and prayers are all the kindness the family requires. Those who so wish, please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
