ELLEN (ELENA) HUSTON
(nee SIDOR)
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved Ellen Huston with her family by her side on July 18, 2022 at the age of 91. She will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by all.
She was a loving mother to: Donald (Shelley), Dash/Derek (Robin), Gordon (Tracey), Janice Brown nee Huston (Gordon Brown), Florence Krawchuk (Raymond); Grams to: Dallas (Brock), Carl, Cody (Angela), Courtney (Tyler), Sydney (John), Clayton (Jen), Derek (Jaimie), Halle (Dane), Sam (Erin), Matthew; great-grandchildren: Victoria (Isaac), Natasha, Huston, Ellena, Weston, Renae, Jack, Lily, Maverick, Harrison, Eli and Isaiah. She also had many special nieces and nephews as well as close friends that were very important to her.
Ellen was predeceased by her devoted husband Carl David Huston.
Ellen was born on March 25, 1931 in Gardenton, MB to Kost and Maria Sidor. She later moved to Balmertown, ON with her eldest sister Kay doing laundry for Dickenson Mine. It was there, circa 1947 that she met geologist/gold miner Papa (Carl Huston). They forged a beautiful life together spanning over 62 years living in Balmertown, Wawa, Winnipeg and then eventually settling in the Chukuni Subdivision on Red Lake where they built their home that we all have come to recognize as a symbol of what being home truly means. Grams was caring, gentle but firm and a powerful woman. She created and cultivated a strong family in her likeness. Granny was the matriarch of the Huston clan. She was passionate about working in the garden until the end. She was well known for her delicious home-cooked meals and baking. She always remained active playing with grandkids and great-grandchildren and loved watching hockey, golf and curling. Grams accepted everyone as they were unconditionally without judgment and with love. In her early years she was an avid curler, swimmer, golfer and baseball player.
Auntie Ellen, Granny, Grams, GG, Mother, Mom, you will be so dearly missed by everyone you have crossed paths with.
We love you.
We gather to celebrate Ellen Huston's life on July 30, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Huston's in Red Lake, ON.
Local service in Winnipeg will take place at a later date.
