ALICE LOUISE POLLETT
(WOODLAND)

Peacefully, after a lengthy illness, we are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great-Grandmother, age 82 years, on July 28, 2022, at her home in Vernon, BC.
She will be forever loved and missed by her husband of 63 years, Weldon Pollett; children: Loren (Angela), Debbie (Darcy), Shirley (Jerry), Scott (Allison), Exie (Peter) and daughter in-law Nancy, 14 Grandchildren: Melody, Ashley, Corey, Megan, Chad, Duncan, Jerrod, Brittany, Karli, Josie, Katie, Nicholas, Alicia and Andi; 14 great-grandchildren, Ashton, Colby, Landon, Brycen, Mason, Ethan, Matthew, Everly, Julia, Triston, Presley, Emma, Summer and Nora; brothers, Frazer, Albert and David; sisters, Shirley and Donna.
Mom was born in Greenspond, Bonavista Bay, NL in 1939, moved with her family to Buchans, NL in 1951, where she met her best friend and love of her life, our Dad. They married on April 25, 1959 and began a family. In 1978 our family left Newfoundland and moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba. Mom started working at Golden West Centennial Lodge in 1979 as a dietary aid and retired from dietary supervisor position in 1995 when she became a full time nanny of her grandchildren. Mom was a gentle, loving and tender hearted woman with a devotion to care for her family and friends. Mom's most treasured times were family gatherings, walking in Grant's Old Mill Park with Dad, daily coffee time with friends and spending time with God. Mom was a faithful servant of God from a very young age and spent many years as an active member of Women's Ministries, teaching Sunday school and singing in the songsters. It was her strong faith and devotion to God that shaped the exceptional woman she was.
Mom was predeceased by her son Robert; parents; Lucinda and Albert Woodland; brother Charlie; and sisters, Ada, Annie, Bernice.

WELL DONE THOU GOOD
AND FAITHFUL SERVANT.
ENTER INTO THE JOY OF THE LORD

  • Our hearts are so heavy; after so many years of friendship, she loved, cared and prayed for us as she did her family. We'll always remember her for her absolute devotion to family, friends and her faith. We'll lovingly remember her love of feeding friends and family, particularly her delicious and authentic "Jiggs" dinner, trying scrunchions for the first time and the fun we had sharing with her our "cod tongue" memories from our trip to Newfoundland. We'll miss and always remember her sweet smile, her humble nature and her warm hugs. To Weldon, Deb and Darcy, Lon and Ang, Shirl and Jerry, Exie and Peter, and all of Alice's grandchildren and great grandchildren, our most sincere condolences. You are now being held and comforted in the arms of heaven's most beautiful angel. Rest in peace sweet Alice; your family is a testament to your love and commitment to those you loved. - Posted by: Trish and Brian Martynook (Family Friends) on: Aug 07, 2022

  • Condolences to all the family on the “Promotion to Glory” of a wife, a mother, a friend, a sister. Alice’s quiet demeanour was a gift to all, yet I believe beneath this exterior was a determined and faithful woman who loved all she met. Sandra and I send our prayers, hugs and thoughts to you all during these days. We do not grieve as those without faith, for we are strengthened and comforted by our God, who tells us he will take us to where he is.
