JOAN SPENCE
It is with great sadness that the family of Joan Spence announce her passing on June 22, 2022 at the age of 88.
She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 65 years, Raymond; children, Jeff, Cynthia (Wade); grandchildren, Spencer, Andrew; siblings, Shirley, Rick (Eileen). Joan was predeceased by her parents Marinus, Dena and brother-in-law Norman.
Joan was born in Winnipeg. She had fond memories of working at her family's market garden, driving the tractor and accompanying her father on deliveries. She started working at a young age and quickly found a career that she loved and excelled at. Joan married, started a family in Winnipeg, later moved to Saskatoon to open a business which Joan and Ray successfully operated for 25 years.
Joan enjoyed travel and was always ready for an adventure. She was able to take many trips with work and in retirement. Together they enjoyed numerous cruises and vacations to sunny destinations in the winter, enjoyed time in Waskesiu in the summer with her family. Time spent with her family was cherished.
Joan led by example, kind, loving, and always available to lend a helping hand. Her quick wit, sense of humour and business sense led her to succeed in many endeavours. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
A celebration of Joan's life will be held at Shirley's residence in Winnipeg at 2:00 p.m. August 14, 2022; for details email cynthiadspence@gmail.com.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society.
