EWDOKIA (LUCY) KIS
February 26, 1925 - August 2, 2022
Peacefully on Tuesday, August 2, 2022, Ewdokia (Lucy) passed.
Ewdokia was born to Vasyl and Katerina Turenko on February 26, 1925. She lived with her parents and four siblings in Kisoricze, Ukraine on the family farm.
In January 1942, when Germany invaded Ukraine, Ewdokia was taken to Germany to work in the slave labour camps. There she met her future husband, Stefan. After the Second World War and spending a time in a holding camp, Ewdokia and Stefan left for England. They married in November 1947 and resided in Nottingham. Their daughter Olga was born December 1949. In 1957, Ewdokia, Stefan, and Olga emigrated to Canada and chose to reside in Winnipeg. Ewdokia was a member of Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral and the Ukrainian institute Prosvita.
Ewdokia was predeceased by her husband Stefan in 1985. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Olga and husband Kevin Fraser, her grandchildren, Kathy and husband Kevin Ingalls, and Mark and wife Karen Fraser. Her greatest joy were her great-grandchildren, Maddie, Eric, Grace and Danny Ingalls, and Ryan and Matthew Fraser.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 8, 2022, at 10:30 a.m. at Sts. Vladimir and Olga Cathedral, 115 McGregor Street.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests a donation be made to a charity of choice.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to the Holy Family Nursing Home for their care and compassion in Ewdokia's final journey of life.
Baba we will miss you,
your love and your kindness.
