JUDITH ANN PATEMAN
(nee MARTIN)
June 15, 1950 - July 28, 2022
It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing of our mom, grandma, sister, aunt and dear friend, Judy.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Stuart; parents, Harold and Pat Martin, and father and mother-in-law Len and Betty Pateman.
Judy is survived by her sons, Ryan (Kathy) and Drew (Julie), her granddaughter Ramona, sisters, Lynn Anderson (Bruce) and Laurie Danwich (Dennis), cousin Eva Brown, brothers-in-law, Walker (Barb) and Howard and sister-in-law Janet.
Judy grew up in Albert Beach, Manitoba on a small farm and mink ranch. As teenagers, Judy and Lynn loved their bunkhouse, moving into it in April and out in November. There was always a girlfriend (or three) staying over.
She attended school in Victoria Beach, then on to Walter Whyte in Grand Marais for high school. From there she moved to Winnipeg to live with her grandmother and attend grade 12 at United College. Judy and Stuart were married in 1971 and shortly after, they headed off to work in Geelong, Australia and travelled. When they returned to Winnipeg in 1974, Judy continued her career at the Health Sciences Centre Hematology laboratory. Judy retired as Charge Lab tech after 35 years to be a full time caregiver to Stuart.
Once settled in Winnipeg, they started their family welcoming Ryan in 1979 and then Drew in 1981. Stuart and the boys were sports enthusiasts and especially loved skiing and snowboarding in the Rockies. Judy could usually be found in the ski lodge with her nose in a book, waiting for them to return and was always excited to hear their stories of how awesome the run was!
The special light of her life was her granddaughter, Ramona. Judy and Ramona could spend hours working on art, colouring and making cards to hand out to family and friends. She really loved every minute she got to spend with Ramona.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Judy Rowluk for helping care for Judy, it was greatly appreciated.
We would also like to thank the staff and nurses at the Riverview Medical Centre for the exceptional care.
A Celebration of Life is planned for August 26, 2:00 p.m. at the Beaches Community Centre located at 65 Arthur Road in Victoria Beach (on 59 Hwy. beside public works).
In lieu of flowers, donations in Judy's honour can be made to the Beaches Community Centre, PO Box 160, Victoria Beach, MB R0E 2C0.
Condolences may be left on her tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com

Please accept my condolences on your great loss of Jude. She was my best friend growing up. I spent many sleepovers with her and Lynn. She stood for my wedding. She was a beautiful person, inside and out. Sending huge hugs and prayers to Lynn, and to all of Jude's family. I'm so shocked and so sorry for your great loss. May God hold you all closely, giving you His strength, His courage, and His never-ending unconditional love, at this most difficult time. - Posted by: Sylvia Ferns (Friend ) on: Aug 14, 2022
