DAVID GOYER
On Friday, August 5, 2022, David Joseph Goyer passed away at the age of 75.
David will be lovingly remembered and missed by his three children, Matt (Chelsea), Aimee (Ian), Dani (Jason), and his five grandchildren, Isaac, Ellice, Ani, Knox and Zoe. David leaves behind his partner and companion of over 25 years, Jill Sansregret, and her two children, Nicholas and Rachel. David was one of four Goyer brothers, and was predeceased by Georges, Larry and Arthur.
David was born on November 24, 1946 in Edmonton, AB but moved to Winnipeg, MB at a young age. He grew up on Fleet Street and became close friends with the neighbourhood boys, several of whom he remained in touch with for his entire life.
When his parents and two brothers moved out West, David and his older brother Arthur stayed in Winnipeg. He attended St. Paul's High School where he excelled at football with the Crusaders and later the Fort Garry Lions Football Club.
David embarked on a career in architecture, graduating in 1971 with a gold medal from the University of Manitoba. After gaining experience working at architectural firms, David struck out on his own and worked for himself until his retirement. Over a 40 year career he left his mark all over Winnipeg, from office buildings and commercial spaces to condo buildings, houses and cabins. He left an incredible legacy of brilliant structures that will be enjoyed and appreciated for many years to come. Of particular note is the special home he designed and built for his family on the bank of the Red River.
In his spare time, David loved spending time at the lake and on the water, building docks, decks and playhouses and he especially enjoyed spending time sailing on his boat - Juggernaut. Over the years, David was fortunate to have built memories at cottages on West Hawk Lake, Lake of the Woods and Austin Lake.
Upon his retirement, David moved out West to Salt Spring Island where he and Jill have lived for several years. He greatly enjoyed sitting in his living room looking out at the ocean and watching the ferries come and go. David also enjoyed being on the West Coast so he could visit family in Vancouver and Seattle.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, and in particular Dr. Stigant and the dialysis team, for the excellent care and support over the last few years.
A drop-in gathering in David's honour will take place on Saturday, October 1, 2022, at Rae and Jerry's (David's favourite place to catch up with old friends) from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The family looks forward to connecting with family and friends to celebrate his memory.
Donations can be made in David's memory to the Kidney Foundation of Canada.

David was such a great person-friendly, professional, and so helpful. We met through a mutual business contact, and worked together on many projects! I introduced him to salt water taffy, which he loved, so every time after that I needed to drop off a couple along with the drawings I would leave with him…RIP David. David hired my M & E engineering firm to design a Co-Op grocery store 20 or so years ago as well as a few other projects. He was a nice guy and always gave us life lessons. He was fun to work with. God Bless. MM - Posted by: michael mark (client) on: Aug 25, 2022
