JAMES ROGER KULSON
With unimaginable sadness we announce the passing of James Roger Kulson on August 13, 2022. James, affectionately known as Jimbo by his many friends, passed peacefully with his wife by his side, at his camp on Black Sturgeon Lake - a place close to his heart.
Left to mourn are his wife of 16 years, Holly Morris, his sister Janet Smith, cousin Doug (Marion), nieces, Barb (Jeff), Debra (Rob) and Susan and great-nieces and nephews, Abby (Tyler), Hayden, Lily, Paige and Mason. Jimbo will also be greatly missed by his dogs, Minnow and Georgie.
He was predeceased by his parents, Edward and Irene (Cockle) Kulson, brother-in-law Gary Smith and many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
Jimbo was born in Winnipeg on April 24, 1958 growing up in the Norwood Flats neighbourhood but always spending summers at the cottage. Over the years his family had places at Matlock, Sioux Narrows and Granite Lake before finally settling on Black Sturgeon Lake outside Kenora.
For most of his life Jimbo was a fishing guide in Sioux Narrows with his "brother" Moon, but also spent time as a light technician for the Harvey Henry Band and toured all over Canada. Later in life he worked for the City of Winnipeg grooming golf courses and with the Cross Country Ski Association of Manitoba grooming cross country ski trails.
Jimbo was an avid fisherman but he also had a passion for music (he had an extensive vinyl LP collection), playing the harmonica, Second World War aircraft and food and drink. He was a curler for many years with the Winnipeg Musicians League, even winning the Canadian Musicians Championship. He will always be remembered for his kindness, big smile and even bigger laugh. He had a fantastic sense of humour and the hugest heart. He touched so many lives and will be missed by those who knew and loved him.
A celebration of his life will take place at a later date.

I am very sad to learn of Jim's passing. I knew Jimbo for quite a long time and have many memories of the fun times we had along with my cousin Marc Kennedy (Jumbo) on Pinedale. Jim was definitely one of the highlights in my life, I have never nor will I ever lose thought of him. I didn’t get to know Jimmy as well as I would’ve liked before his untimely passing, I knew a few things for sure about this man. He was a big teddy bear who adored his wife and his dogs, was the life of the party and hilarious.
