MARJORIE ESTELLE DUECK
NOVEMBER 2, 1935 - AUGUST 21, 2022

Marjorie Estelle Dueck, our sister, aunt, great aunt, and cousin was born on November 2, 1935. At the age of 9 months, she was lovingly welcomed into the home of David P. and Gertrude Dueck. She peacefully passed away on August 21, 2022, at the Manitoba Developmental Centre in Portage La Prairie, Manitoba, reaching the age of 86 years.
Marjorie was one of God's special children. She attended Montezuma School for several years, learning to read. She entertained her nieces and nephews by reading stories and expanding on them to make them funny. She enjoyed helping gather and grade eggs on the farm, which Grandpa would then sell to the corner stores in Transcona.
Aunt Marj was a great aunt. She loved swinging on the lawn swing and often provided a lot of the "manpower" when we were small. She also loved slamming shut the cupboard doors; things always looked tidier when she was done.
Aunt Marj had a remarkable memory and could recall her cousins' years of birth, so don't tell us you're still 29!
In 1981, the responsibility of taking care of her became too much for her aging parents. She moved into the Manitoba Developmental Centre where she was a resident for 41 years. The staff often commented that she was the sunshine there. Marjorie enjoyed visits from her family. A highlight for her was going out with them for ice cream.
Those left behind with precious memories are one sister, Norma, sister-in-law Anne Dueck, nieces and nephews Ron and Janice, Lavonne, Warren and Lorrie, Russ, Lana and Rick, Brian and Lydia, Sherri and Matt, Ken and Leudy, Rennie, Bradley, Chasity, and a host of cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents, and her brother Jake.
The funeral service was held on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach, MB. Viewing at the chapel prior to the service. Burial to follow at Greenland Church of God In Christ, Mennonite Cemetery, Greenland, MB.
Special thanks to the staff at the Manitoba Developmental Centre, where she received excellent care.
