HEIDI SCHROEDER
May 20, 1928 - August 23, 2022
Heidi lived a full and rich life of 94 years, blessed with a loving family and dear friends. She was predeceased by her beloved husband John (who passed away December 19, 2020).
Heidi's memory will be cherished by her five children: Terry McKee (Walt), Linda Arlt (Ken Arlt - deceased, Peter Bagot), Rick Schroeder (Susan), Tom Schroeder, Sandy de Jong (KC), 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and the many others she touched with her kindness.
Heidi was born in Steyr, Austria and immigrated to Winnipeg as a child. She met John at the First Mennonite Church while singing in the choir. They married in 1950 and shared 70 wonderful years together, raising their children in a loving and caring home. Heidi was a devoted wife and mother who always put her family first. She treasured times spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Whether at her home or cottage, Heidi's open arms, warmth and hospitality made everyone feel welcome.
Heidi was a woman of faith and an active member of the North Kildonan Mennonite Church where she was she was instrumental in creating and maintaining the church library.
Despite health issues later in life, she maintained her positive outlook. Heidi's beautiful smile lit up a room! Her optimism and wonderful sense of humour lifted the spirits of all those around her.
The family is truly grateful for the exceptional care provided by the dedicated staff of Bethania Personal Care Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Bethania Personal Care Home or Diabetes Canada.
A joint Celebration of Life for Heidi and John will be held at North Kildonan Mennonite Church on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.

Terry, Linda, Rick, Tom, and Sandy. We're very sorry to hear of Heidi's passing. Both she and John were wonderful neighbors to my grandfather Russell Chatfield at Brereton Lake. We still refer to the cabins in that bay by the names of their former owners as there are so many happy memories from that time. May those memories help to comfort you in your sorrow.
