MONICA SCOTT-HERRIDGE
(MICKEY)
Monica "Mickey" Scott-Herridge was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She passed away at the St. Boniface Hospital Friday, August 19, 2022 at the age of 92 years.
Monica was born to parents, Charles and Yvonne on April 9, 1930. As a young woman she received training and worked within the hairdressing profession.
Monica met her beloved Dennis in 1950. The sweethearts became engaged and married March 29, 1952. The happy couple were blessed in 1954 with a beautiful baby boy, Gerard. Two years later, a daughter Sandra brought them to a family of four. The couple made the decision in 1958 to immigrate to Canada.
Dennis departed the family first, then Monica and both children travelled across the Atlantic Ocean aboard the Cunard Lines. Dennis gained employment with the Winnipeg Police Department and Monica stayed home to raise the children whilst creating a happy new home. When the children were school-aged, Monica returned into the workforce. Her first job was in sales with Johnson and Hutchinson Jewelers. When Johnson and Hutchinson closed their doors permanently, Ben Moss Jewelers became Monica's new place of employment.
She thoroughly enjoyed her positions in sales and found a deep satisfaction connecting with both work colleagues and her customers. Being an avid gardener, a wonderful cook, and knitting for her five grandchildren, brought more joy to her life. Monica gave back to her community. She taught catechism classes at the Holy Redeemer Parish for 12 years, as well as volunteering over 17 years of her time with Donwood Manor Care Home. Over many years, Monica supported Dennis within his appointed duties as Aide de Camp to the Lieutenant Governor(s) of Manitoba.
Monica is predeceased by Dennis, her beloved husband of 64 years, and son Gerard of 65 years. Monica is survived by daughter Sandra, grandsons, Scott, Kirk (Burnaby, BC), daughter-in-law Roberta, grandsons, Joel, Evan, granddaughter Crystal Joy, and six beautiful great-grandchildren (Winnipeg).
Cremation has taken place. The interment of Monica's ashes is to be determined.
Flowers are politely declined and in lieu, donations can be made in Monica's name with a children's charity.
