LESLEY LORRAINE CAMPBELL
April 19, 1942 - August 24, 2022
Peacefully, on Wednesday, August 24 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, Lesley Campbell passed away after a short illness.
Lesley is survived by her children, Nancy Gay Campbell (Douglas Laxdal) and Brock Duncan Campbell (Jennifer); grandchildren, Ford Laxdal, Kai Laxdal, Layla Laxdal, Clayton Campbell, and Reese Campbell. Lesley is also survived by her nephews, Craig and Ian Lawrence and their families.
Lesley was recently predeceased by Bruce, her husband of 59 years; her sister Coralie Lawrence, and parents, Ron and Evelyn Gay.
A true matriarch, Lesley's greatest joy was her family. She was happiest surrounded by her children, grandchildren, nephews, and their families. Gatherings for special occasions (especially Christmas) and at Victoria Beach were often chaotic and rambunctious affairs and Lesley loved every minute of them. She supported her family unhesitatingly. Whether it was ultimate or hockey games, dance recitals, graduation ceremonies, or birthday parties Lesley would be there, and the kids loved her for it.
As a couple, Lesley always supported Bruce, and Bruce supported Lesley. Theirs was as a true partnership and together they were able to achieve great success. Lesley had a gift of connecting with people and other social graces that made anyone feel comfortable and included in all social settings. They were a dynamic duo and had an ability to complement each other's strengths, be it at Conventions, Association Dinners, family gatherings, or community centers.
Lesley and Bruce had a wide circle of friends in Winnipeg, Brandon, and Palm Desert, California. Lesley's ability to plan and execute the perfect party was unmatched. From decor to decorum, she was an expert at bringing people together and ensuring a good time was had by all. She was a kind, generous person who loved being around people enjoying themselves. And while she was too humble to acknowledge it, she was likely directly responsible. She will be deeply missed.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave.
The family wishes to thank the staff at the Health Sciences Centre, particularly Dr. Kevin Brown, who allowed her to pass with dignity. The care and compassion provided to Lesley is deeply appreciated.
Flowers gratefully declined. Please consider a donation to the charity of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)
So sad to learn by chance of Lesley's recent passing. I had only very recently learned that her husband, Bruce, had died in the spring. They were a great and welcoming couple who generously supported the students and outreach of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences at the University of Manitoba. When we moved from the UK to Winnipeg in 2004 they were among the first to offer support to us. They will both be missed by all their family and their many friends. - Posted by: Michael and Marilyn Trevan (Friend, and worked with Bruce when I was Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences MB) on: Sep 15, 2022
I met your mom numerous times through our shared friend, Donnamay. She was always cheerful and interested in sharing experiences. Her sense of humor was quick and her laugh contagious. She was a lovely lady in every sense of the word. My condolences to your entire family. - Posted by: Judy Urbonas (Acquaintance ) on: Aug 29, 2022
This hurts... Lesley was a very special person to me. We worked together at Mannequin at Eaton Place and I remember one summer how we listened to Chicago 17 constantly during our shifts. She always drove me home and we talked about my plans and her travels, her children and just life in general. She was a wonderful, caring and warm person. I wish I had called her after your Dad's passing. I very much regret not doing this. My thoughts are with you Nancy and Brock. She loved you so very much. - Posted by: Heather Cameron Scott (Friend) on: Aug 27, 2022
