PATRICIA ELSIE HAIP

Peacefully, with the love of her family around her, Mom passed away in the early morning hours of August 31, 2022.
Mom was born in Winnipeg on June 7, 1938, where she spent her entire life. Her early years with her beloved mom, dad and cherished sister Barbara were sweet. She attended St. Mary's Academy and enjoyed working until she met and married Jack Haip and then took on the role of military wife.
Together mom and dad built their life beginning with a three-year posting in Germany, travelling throughout Europe during that time. There, they had their first two daughters and moved back to Canada - first to Portage La Prairie then to Winnipeg. With the addition of two more daughters, they settled into their home in Westwood.
Mom braved a new world transitioning from mother and housewife to income-earner in the seventies, working and enjoying several administrative positions, ending her career as a Project Secretary for Crippen-Acres Consulting.
After being widowed early, she recreated herself once again. She was blessed to have many wonderful friends over the years to travel and spend time with, and she thrived. She adored her cats and enjoyed gardening and golfing. Most especially she loved being with her grandchildren, attending hockey games, school events and birthday parties, having sleepovers and visiting her Ottawa crew. She stayed in touch with old military friends and was an avid Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bombers fan. She will be remembered for her wicked sense of humour, her love of family, for her perfect hair, and for living her life exactly as she wanted.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Jack, and by her "sissy" Barbara. She is survived by her daughters, Loreen Mellof, Tracy Wardle, Kerri-Jo Ploszay and Jill Franchuk, along with their spouses and children. She was the centre of our family and will be deeply missed. We are grateful for the many years of laughter and love she leaves us with.
The family extends a warm thank you to Dr. David Haligowski for his many years of excellent care of mom's health.
A private family gathering will be held.
If desired, a donation can be made in mom's honour to Fairfax Community Inc. - www.fairfaxcommunity.ca - in support of adults with intellectual disabilities, or to CancerCare Manitoba.

  • So sorry to hear of Pat’s passing. My sincere sympathy to you all. May all your memories bring you comfort at this time. I have been Pat’s hairstylist for many years. We have shared many stories. Lots of family stories. We were both experts when it came to the Winnipeg Jets and Blue Bombers which led to great conversations for us. We had so many laughs over the years I will miss her lots.
