WERNER KREMPIN

Surrounded by love, Werner peacefully passed away June 19, 2021, when he lost his battle with cancer.
Werner will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years, Frances, who was his rock and true love of his life, together with their son Kevin, daughter-in-law Tessa and his new granddaughter Lily Elisabeth.
Werner is also survived by his daughters, Raquelle, Britt and Lana; granddaughters, Bridget, Brandy, Avery and Arielle. He will also be missed by his sister-in-law Rosemary (Roy); brother-in-law Bob (Valerie) and brother-in-law Tom (Pat). His humor will always be remembered and appreciated by his nieces and nephews, Candace, Kristen, Jennifer, Megan; Jason, Mathew, Dan and Michael; and his great-nieces and nephews, who spent many memorable summers learning how to water ski or being towed around the lake on the ski biscuits by him.
Werner was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Elisabeth Krempin; his Aunt Gertrude and Uncle Karl; and his in-laws, Robert and Frances Ward.
Werner was born in Graudenz, Germany September 5, 1944. When Werner was five years old his father decided to move his young family to begin a new life in Canada. They immigrated to Winnipeg and settled in West St. Paul where Werner grew up and graduated from West St. Paul Collegiate. After attending University, a brief career in real estate sales and construction, Werner decided to start his own concrete construction company. Werner's entrepreneurial spirit later evolved to include building homes. Werner found his passion in house construction and Frances and Werner began their residential house building company. Werner retired from his concrete company in 2009 but the house building company continues today.
Werner loved life and lived it to the fullest. He loved spending time at the lake at Lac du Bonnet. He was an excellent water skier who demonstrated his talents at "fish tailing" and would spray everyone who were relaxing on the dock. Werner had a passion for fishing, both at Lac Du Bonnet and in Mexico. He loved snorkeling and always enjoyed observing the tropical fish, whales, and dolphins in their natural habitat. While visiting Las Vegas we won a trip to Mexico, and this was the beginning of many great winter holidays in Puerto Vallarta. Werner made many friends in PV, and we looked forward to seeing them each year. He started playing tennis in Mexico and was hooked. Werner was a natural athlete and did everything with passion which led him to winning various events in tennis. He enjoyed our excursions to beaches outside of Puerto Vallarta and our driving trips through the Sierra Madras. Werner was not a traveler that liked to move from place to place, but he finally conceded and off we went to Cuba, Italy, Greece, France, Germany, San Antonio, Memphis to see Graceland and Nashville to the Grand Old Opry.
Werner not only enjoyed playing sports but also watching them. Football and hockey were his favorites. He could tell you the players history, their points, their age, and who they were married to. When Kevin played hockey, Werner was the first one up to get ready for practices or games. He helped coach and enjoyed watching his son play. The hockey years with Kevin gave us many good times and many good friends, who we still have to this day.
Werner has been described as a fun guy, larger than life, a character, a straight shooter, and a friendly hand when you needed it. He was loyal to the people that worked for him and to the people that he did business with. He believed this was the basis of a good businessman.
Family and his friends were very important to Werner. He enjoyed Christmas dinners, family gatherings and just getting together and telling stories, mostly his.
The gatherings are a little quieter now, but his presence will always be there. The love that he gave and the love and respect he received is a testament to the kind of person he was.
Werner lived a full life, and he will live on, in our hearts and memories. We all wish he could still be here, but we will forever feel his presence on those perfect summer evenings sitting on the dock as we watch those beautiful sunsets slowly gliding into the lake. As in the song sung by Toby Keith, at the Grand Old Opry, Werner never let the "Old Man In".
I miss you and know that God has taken you home and you are now with your mom and dad, who were waiting for you with open arms. My heart breaks that you are not here, and I have lost my dance partner.

He was my life,
he held my heart and
gave me the air to breathe.

Thank you to our Oncologist, Dr. Dawe and the nurses, who travelled the terrible road of cancer with us and respected our feelings that we could not give up our fight nor our hope that we could win this battle.
A celebration of Werner's life, officiated by Father Kevin, will be held on Wednesday, September 7, at 2:00 p.m. at Mary Mother of the Church, 85 Kirkbridge Drive.
A light lunch will follow.
