IDA MAE MACLEOD
(nee PATTERSON)

December 23, 1940 – September 1, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ida MacLeod on Thursday, September 1, 2022.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Lisa and Tracie; her grandsons, Braydin Rigby and William MacLeod-Gobeil; sisters, Gloria Patterson and Sandra Michon; sister-in-law Catherine Tarr; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her parents, Robert and Estelle Patterson; brothers, Larry and Douglas Patterson; sisters, Sylvia Kerr and Audrey LaPointe.
Ida was born and raised in Morden, Manitoba and attended the Morden School Division. She began her early years working on the family farm and helping her mother raise her four sisters and two brothers after the untimely passing of her father at an early age.
Ida moved to Winnipeg and worked in the accounting industry for many years. She worked at various companies including The Hudson Bay Company, before moving onto The Manitoba Honey Co-op, where Ida quickly became the first female General Manager. She had a long career with The Manitoba Honey Co-op and remained there until retirement. After retiring Ida went to work for the Winnipeg Inner City Missions as the Board of Directors Treasurer for the Anishinaabe Fellowship Centre, Flora House and Anishinaabe Place of Hope-Endaayaang. Ida was also a long-standing member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. Ida was known for her love of working long hours and keeping busy crunching the numbers. She spent some years volunteering as a Girl Guide Leader for Girl Guides of Canada. She enjoyed spending time at the family cottage with family and friends. She lived her life to the fullest and brought happiness, support and strength to her family, friends and all the lives she touched.
The family would like to give special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of Riverview Palliative Care Unit for their compassionate care and support.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2022, at 10:00 a.m., at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue with interment and reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, CancerCare Manitoba or the Riverview Palliative Care Unit.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I worked at M.C.H.P. from early 1992 until 2009. She was a great manager who could be quite docile one minute and truly dominant the next. She had a unique grasp on how to deal with staff. She was a very well dedicated and enjoyable person to be around. Ida had a infectious smile or harsh eyebrows to let you know what was going on. A delightful woman whom I did not get to see her retirement at the company xmas party. Sweet dreams. - Posted by: James McCullough (co-worker) on: Sep 07, 2022
