MAX MORISS WAISMAN
Max Waisman passed away at the age of 69 at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, with his son by his side, on September 5, 2022, just days shy of his 70th birthday.
Born in Tel Aviv, Israel, Max came to Canada in 1953, when he was seven months old, arriving in Winnipeg with his parents and older brother. Max attended Belmont School, Jefferson Junior High School, and Garden City Collegiate, then worked in retail services and the hospitality industry before becoming a working partner in a Winnipeg hotel and a St. Boniface restaurant. In both his work and his private life, Max relished serving a delicious, satisfying meal. In retirement, Max enjoyed travelling on the highway in his Chevy Camaro, especially when he was driving through the Rocky Mountains or along the West Coast.
Max is survived by his son Rory (Maureen), his brothers, Nelson and Norman, and cousins, Rivka Green, Jeffrey Shwaid, and Bill (Alice).
A special thank you is extended to the home care aides that worked with Max over recent months and to the health-care aides, nurses, doctors, and all the staff and unit assistants at St. Boniface Hospital. Thank you all for being by Max's side over the recent weeks.
Donations in honour of Max to CancerCare Manitoba are invited in place of flowers. Make a donation to

I was not only Max’s former business partner, but I also grew up with Max and his Brothers. My Dad and Max’s Dad were also business partners. I remember first meeting Max at Jefferson. When he Married Andrea and when Rory was born. These were very special days to him. And I remember most how much Rory meant to him. When we were partners, that’s all that consumed him. I regret that my I’ll health prevented me from seeing him before, but I did speak to him and for the record he was the same old Max. It’s now time to Rest In Peace. - Posted by: Dave Grant (Former Partner) on: Sep 07, 2022
