RONALD GARY REIMER

It is with great sadness that we announce Ron's passing following a decline from ALS on August 31, 2022 at the age of 72.
Ron will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 43 years, Susan; and his daughters, Sarah (Jose) and Samantha (Liam). Ron is also survived by his siblings, Larry (Carol), Brian (Anna), Debbie, Cathy (Todd), Rick, and other cherished family and friends.
From the beginning, Ron had a strong work ethic and loyalty to his family. He took on many jobs throughout his life but established his career at Qualico, where he was initially hired in 1977. Ron loved his work at Qualico and would continue to work there until his passing.
His many interests included reading, golfing (he was a proud member of the Canadian Seniors Golf Association) and traveling to his favorite destinations, Mexico and Palm Springs. Ron loved to cook, with his favorite cuisine being anything Italian, accompanied by an Italian red wine, which was always at the correct temperature.
Ron was a man who always put others before himself and found the most joy from being with his family and friends. He was extraordinarily hard working, knowledgeable, and generous. Ron was someone who you could always count on for help and he was often sought after for his great advice. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Thank you to the ALS clinic and the ALS society for their support and guidance during his illness. We would like to thank the first responders as well as the staff at St. Boniface Hospital Emergency Department for their care and compassion.
A private memorial will be held for friends and family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either Habitat for Humanity Manitoba or to ALS Canada.

  • I just found out that my friend and golf buddy for the past 20 odd years had passed away last summer. Ron and I played golf at Paradise Village in Nuevo Vallarta for many years. We hardly spoke during the rest of the year, but we were always on Victor's first shuttle of the first day of the Christmas Holiday season. Ron always asked Victor about his children and was always happy to hear of their successes. Such a great family guy, the nicest person you could meet. He loved having his family around him. You can tell so much about a person in a round of golf. We sometimes were joined by my two sons who always enjoyed the round with Ron. I include them in offering my deepest condolences to Susan and his children. Ron and I always joked that we would play the last round together when our timeshares expired at the end of our 33 years. I’ll be thinking of Ron, if I am blessed with that good fortune. I’ll close wishing that his memory will a blessing and comfort to all of your family and friends. - Posted by: Michael Goldberg (Golf buddy/ Vacation Friend) on: Dec 25, 2022

  • I have not known Ron personally but as a chairman of Homes By Avi, a company that has worked closely with Qualico, I am very familiar with his incredible leadership and management capabilities. I am saddened by his passing and my thoughts are with Qualico staff and management and with Ron’s family. - Posted by: Avi Amir (Business, Housing Industry) on: Sep 09, 2022

  • My profound condolences to Susan and the rest of the family. Ron and I go way back to law school. We articled to David Friesen and then worked together at Qualico. I went back into private practice, but kept up my contact with Ron. Ron was just a great fellow - intelligent, engaging and compassionate, with a concern and respect for others. He devoted his working time to Qualico, which I am sure is appreciated by the company. However, he still found time for his family and other interests, including travelling, reading and of course golf. He will be missed by all who knew him. - Posted by: John Peters (Friend) on: Sep 09, 2022

  • My deepest condolences. I worked closely with Ron during my 16 years at Qualico in my position as Payroll and Benefits Manager. Ron was not only a wonderful person to work with, he also helped me a great deal while my family was going through disability issues with my husband's employer.
