PHYLLIS KALINSKY
Phyllis passed away at her home at the Simkin Centre on Wednesday, August 31, 2022 at the age of 83.
Predeceased by her parents, Hymie and Mary Kalinsky and her brother Isaac; she is survived by her sister-in-law Angie Kalinsky and her nephew Curtis Kalinsky.
Phyllis was born in Winnipeg and grew up in the north end of the city. Graduating from St. John's High School, Phyllis attended the University of Manitoba and began teaching in Seven Oaks School Division in 1969. During her 30 plus years as a classroom teacher and resource teacher in several elementary schools, Phyllis continued to learn herself. She received her Master of Education.
Phyllis enjoyed a good laugh and always had a joke or two to share. She loved to travel and over the years saw many interesting places around the world. She was a frequent visitor at the YMHA and the Rady Centre, loved going to concerts, theatre, opera, the ballet and meeting with friends. Phyllis had a generous, loving, kind nature. She loved to learn and she loved teaching children. She lived a long, fruitful life and influenced many lives.
A special thank you to the kind staff at Simkin Centre who took such good care of Phyllis during her last few years.
As per Phyllis' wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. Those who wish to share their memories of Phyllis may do so on the Cropo Funeral Chapel website at www.cropo.com.
Donations in Phyllis' memory may be made to Winnipeg Harvest, an organization she supported and cared about deeply.

I knew Phyllis from the Rady JCC. Phyllis was a regular member as she came to the gym several times a week. She would come to the sports desk always with a smile and laughter. If a parent came by with a child Phyllis would make sure to say Hi to the child. My condolences to the family. - Posted by: Marion Linnemann (Friend) on: Sep 12, 2022
