WILLIAM J. WATSON
It is with deep sorrow that our family announces the passing of William (Bill) J. Watson on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at the age of 81.
Bill was predeceased by his wife of 49 years, Marie and his parents, Walter and Helene Watson. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Stacey (Scott); his son Brett (Tammy); his sisters, Louise (Mike) and Bernice (Aubrey). He will be missed by his grandchildren, Brittney, Delainey, Nicholas, Serenity, Devona and Paige; his many nieces and nephews and extended family including Jasmin (Gerry).
Bill was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Much of his childhood was spent playing hockey. Known for his fast skating, he was given the nickname "Whipper Watson" and continued playing well into his 70s. During his career, Bill worked for Human Resources Canada as an investigation and control officer for over 30 years. An avid entrepreneur, Bill started many businesses including Service Movers (an Atlas Van Lines company) and Storage Vaults Limited which he ran for many years.
Bill was a very kind and loyal friend and neighbour who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was happy to have a good talk and tell stories that could go on for days, with just about anyone. Known as Papa to his grandchildren, he loved using his imagination to make up new games to keep them entertained.
Along with his wife Marie, Bill loved entertaining and having friends and family over for dinners and celebrations. They also enjoyed getting out for New Year's Eve and going out with friends.
We would like to gratefully acknowledge and thank all the staff at HSC, the St. Boniface Hospital and the Sage Creek Medical Center for their provided care and support.
Cremation has taken place and interment will follow at Glen Lawn Cemetery at a later date.

Stacey and Brett. We are shocked and deeply saddened to hear of your father's passing. Our two families go back a long way to starting as neighbors in Niakwa Place. Bill and I car-pooled to work with the then Unemployment Insurance Commission for a few years including the day when you, Stacey, were born. The excitement of your arrival expressed to me and our work colleagues I will always remember. Over those early years of parenthood and later with your marriages and the birth of your children (grandchildren for your parents), Bill and your mother, Marie, were always so proud of your accomplishments and their grandchildren. Stacey, I can remember your parents taking separate routes to visit your family in Edmonton for Christmas -- your mother would fly, and your dad would drive, but they always so much looked forward to visiting and re-uniting with their families. The obituary describes your dad to a 'T'! Your father was always kind, considerate and always respected others. I know that hockey was his passion and love, but his greatest passion was his love for his family and the pride and joy that they gave them! Judy and my thoughts and prayers are with you as you grieve your enormous loss. May our good Lord give you and your families comfort and understanding during these most difficult times. Our love and deepest condolences to all! Ronald (Ron) and Judy Smith - Posted by: Ronald (Ron) S. Smith (former neighbor, friend and work colleague) on: Sep 20, 2022

WHIPPER! I can't believe you're gone! You were the aging veteran on the Letain Hawks Sunday morning team. You loved hockey all right. So much so, that the boys would coax you to take a rest on bench..you thought that you were still 20 years old with your Hull toupe and your Red Berenson helmet. Also enjoyed your friendship as we worked in the same office on Marion for years and chatted about the Jets over coffee. We will miss you. See you again at the Maple Leaf Gardens in your new world. My sincere condolences to your family. - Posted by: Denis Letain (Friend) on: Sep 10, 2022

So sorry to hear of Bill’s passing. He and Marie were so outgoing and genuinely interested in others. They both made you feel good after talking with them. Their love always shone through. We must celebrate that they are together again with the Lord. - Posted by: Bev Martens (Fellow parishioner of St. Timothy’s) on: Sep 10, 2022

Uncle Bill will be very much missed by our family. He would always regale us with his stories of being a private investigator with such delight and enthusiasm, that whether it was true or not always made for a good time. He always had a great sense of humor and, was always up for a prank. His optimistic sense of joy for life will be something we could all learn from. - Posted by: Alisa Morris (Niece) on: Sep 10, 2022

My sincere condolences to Bill`s family. I worked with your dad for many years. He was always a gentleman who was so proud of his wife and children. No matter what building we worked in he often took the stairs. He loved playing hockey and having a good laugh with the guys. I will never forget a time when Bill extended his friendship to me. I met with him a few times for lunch and recently thought of calling him. I wish I had. Rest in peace Bill. You will never be forgotten. - Posted by: Lynne Cooper (friend) on: Sep 10, 2022
