After a courageous battle with cancer, it saddens us to share the passing of Marusia (Mary) Pacheco on September 7, 2022, at Riverview Health Centre at the age of 73. She was surrounded with the love of her family at the time of her passing.
Family was an important part of Mary's life and she will be sadly missed by both her family and friends. She is survived by her husband John, of almost 42 years; children, Blair (Hollie), Tracie (Matt); grandchildren, Noah, Lily, Calder and Tatum; brothers, Wally (Jean), George (Miriam); sister-in-law Aida Rodrigues; nieces and nephews, Dori (Curtis), Drew (Jill), Faith, Hope, Mike Rodrigues (and family) and Terri Warner (and family).
Mary was born near Piney, Manitoba where she spent the majority of her younger years. After moving to Winnipeg, she eventually met and fell in love with her future husband John. Mary worked at Safeway for over 30 years while her and John raised their family in the south end of Winnipeg. Family was a huge part of Mary's life. In her spare time, she would often go visit her family back home in Piney, and developed an incredible talent for crocheting table clothes. All through Mary's battle with cancer she maintained an incredibly positive outlook on life, so much so that it was noticed by many visitors and family. She continued to remain positive until her time of passing.
A celebration of Mary's life will be held at 11:00 am, Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Interment will follow at Glen Lawn Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Riel, Dr. Dawes and the nursing staff of St Boniface and Grace Hospitals as well as Riverview Health Centre.
