JEANNINE (JEAN) KORNE
December 21, 1934 - September 6, 2022
Surrounded by the love of her family, Jeannine (Jean) Korne (nee Beaulieu) passed away on September 6, 2022, at the age of 87 years.
Jean was predeceased by her husband Baudouine (Bud); her parents, Henri and Marie-Jeanne; siblings, Simone, Denise, Elizabeth, Adele, Hervé, Annette, and Marguerite; and her beloved cat Sophie. Jean is lovingly remembered by her sons, Gordon (Martina) and Gary (Olga); grandchildren, Elissa (Stewart Mattis), Stephanie (Brad Jorgenson), Megan and Alex; great-grandchildren, Lea, Shea, and Griffin; sisters, Terry and Helen; and brothers, Roger and Marcel; sister-in-law Rose Adele and many other relatives and friends.
Born in St. Boniface, Jean was the oldest sister in a family with twelve children. Family was most important to Jean. She always made sure to keep in touch with her sisters and brothers and with her nieces and nephews. Jean hosted many holiday dinners at her house and made sure everyone felt important. If any relatives were in town, Jean had them over for a visit, with her famous pies and cookies. Family reunions were her favourite. Jean loved people. She saw the good in every person and every person saw the good in Jean. We will miss her warm hellos and beautiful smile.
As a young woman, Jean worked at St. Boniface Hospital, the Eaton's Mail Order Building and then Eaton's Department Store. She later returned to helping people by working for the Home Care Program. Jean loved helping people any way that she could. She was a member of Holy Cross Parish and enjoyed being involved in the church whether it was quilting or making crafts in the craft group or selling the crafts at fundraisers.
Jean and Bud loved their home on Lyndale Drive. It was their perfect home. Jean was always ready to meet a new neighbour and introduce them to the neighbourhood. Many dear friendships were formed, especially neighbours Val and Hazen who helped watch over Jean and Bud as they got older. In the summer, Jean enjoyed the cottage, especially when family was with her. She made use of all the berries she could pick by making cranberry and pin cherry jellies.
River Ridge 2 Retirement Residence was their final home. It enabled Jean and Bud to be together in a home filled with exceptional people. We will forever be grateful for the love and care that they provided. We also thank the WRHA Home Care Program and the Palliative Care Program.
Jean passed away exactly one year after Bud passed. This day would also have been their 64th Wedding Anniversary. Theirs was a true love story and they are together to celebrate.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 16, 2022, at St. Alphonsus Church, 315 Munroe Avenue, Winnipeg, MB. (Corner of Munroe Avenue and Brazier Street).
Donations can be made to the Winnipeg Humane Society, 45 Hurst Way, Winnipeg, MB R3T 0R3, or another animal rescue organization of your choice.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)
I remember attending their wedding and still have pictures! Both Bud and Jean were special to me and a few times when I visited Winnipeg, I would make sure to pay them a visit. I have recipes from Jean and think of her when I bake the raisin cookies or orange cake. She was a wonderful woman and I am so happy she married my special cousin, Bud!!! May they both rest in peace in the arms of our heavenly Father. - Posted by: Joan Pinto (Bud's cousin...his mother and my mother were sisters) on: Sep 12, 2022
