Condolences & Memories (11 entries)
My sincerest sympathies are with Janeen's family during this difficult time. Janeen was a wonderful woman, full of strength and goodness. She will be sorely missed. And she was a good friend. Tracy Cwik - Posted by: Tracy Cwik (Friend) on: Sep 22, 2022
I became Jan's friend through Cathedral Manoir. My dad, Don Montgomery became a new resident and was wandering aimlessly around the dining hall trying to find a table to sit at. Apparently, Jan thought he looked like a good table mate and waved him over to join her at her table. From that day on a friendship was struck. She introduced him to the residents and made him feel welcome. She also introduced him to the game of cribbage which he had never played before. We got him into assisted living as he was in the early stages of Alzheimer's but I think by playing the game daily it helped to keep him a little more mentally sharp. As he was failing, she kept track of him and helped him out in many little ways. It helped me with piece of mind knowing he had a good friend there who was watching out for him. I also developed a friendship with Jan and enjoyed her company immensely to the point where my dad would say....."Are we here to play cards or are we here to just talk!!" Of course, we just kept on going as she loved to talk and tease him. I am sad she had a shortened, tough life but she surely lived it full of life and love for everyone she met. I will miss our visits, your laugh and positivity and our phone calls. Jan fly free with the Angels. Love you, Your friend Diane - Posted by: Diane Jolly (Friend) on: Sep 20, 2022
Sad loss of a person with such a beautiful personality! Janeen, you are a member of a strong loving family that I am so honoured to be a friend of. So many great memories. You will be missed heaps. May the strong bond your sisters hold, carry them through these sad times. Sincere condolences to Kathy, Graeme & Gillian, Eileen and all your family and Colleen, Dave and family. 💕 Much love from Nancylee Lovatt from Souris, Manitoba, and family - Posted by: Nancylee Robertson (Friend of family) on: Sep 20, 2022
Very sorry to hear of Janeen's passing. We had known each other since second grade, when I began attending King George V elementary school. We graduated high school together, and had the pleasure of seeing one another through the years during random get-togethers former classmates put together. Jan was truly one a kind; very open-hearted and always full of good humour. RIP, Janeen. Thank you for being my friend. - Posted by: Jean-Guy Nault (Friend) on: Sep 19, 2022
Jan you are gone too soon. You were a big part of my happiest and best memories in Winnipeg, thank you! Thank you for rewriting the lyrics to Sarah Mclachlan’s “Ice Cream” (itchy itchy scratch scratch). Thank you for your holiday saving impromptu performance and vocal stylings at Christmas 2001. Who knew a basic ladle could be such a prop!? Thank you for taking me under your wing. Thank you for your work with the LGBTQ+ community in Winnipeg. Thanks for getting me back stage at the Chantel and OLP concert as your health aide assistant (ha!). You were such a light and I loved you in a matter of minutes. How else was it that after knowing you only 1 month, you’d convinced Ricky and me to give you an hour and a half full body massage! I’m so sorry for your passing it is heartbreaking. - Posted by: Justin Zelenka (Friend) on: Sep 18, 2022

She was one of a kind person she was my adopted sister she was somebody who I can always talk to or who can always talk to me, surely she is a sister that I never had and I always wanted. I’m gonna miss you so much we gonna miss you so much and everybody’s going to miss your Jenny, but one day we will see each other again . To me you’re still alive in my heart and in my mind. I will never forget you and cherish all those good times we had all the fun we had and all the little stupid things we did. Jan was always lively and bubbly and I will never forget the time, at about the age of 11 or so, I was tasked with taking her and Carmen to a Jets game. Never laughed so much. Rest easy cousin. - Posted by: Suzanne Livingstone (Cousin) on: Sep 17, 2022
