VARSHNEY: It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Braj Bala Varshney on September 13, 2022, at the age of 79. She passed away peacefully with loved ones at her side. A deeply devoted wife and mother, she is survived by her husband Vipin Chandra, her children Sheila (Daniel), Renu, Nicole (Charles), and Hamish (Reena), and her grandchildren Nicholas, Priya, Maya, Jay Kumar, and Kian. She is also survived by her brother-in-law Pratap and his wife Kamlesh, and their children Nishi (Vineet) and Vishal (Vani), as well as by many cherished siblings, nephews and nieces across India, the United States, and Canada. Mom was born on September 7th, 1943 to Maya Devi and Hari Prapanna in the holy city of Mathura, India. She was the fourth out of eight siblings. After growing up in India, she went on to earn a master's degree in sociology at the University of Agra. On June 1st, 1963, she got married to Dad. Shortly thereafter, their determination for a good life took them half a world away to Guelph, Ontario, Canada. They later moved to Saskatchewan before finally settling in Brandon, Manitoba, which was their home for many years and where they created a happy and successful life together. Mom was our anchor. She was completely devoted to her family and was always there to support her children through the ups and downs. A multi-talented, selfless, and tireless woman, she raised four children while creating a successful home-building business. She had a remarkable ability to meet the demands of her work while still providing ample love and care to her very busy family. She was also a pillar in the community, well-respected for her participation in community functions and volunteer work in various organizations. Mom was an unparalleled cook. She showed her love through her exquisite meals, which were always the highlight of any gathering. Constantly full of energy and ever on the move, she was always happy to stop for a cup of tea or to spend time with her adored and adoring grandchildren. The funeral took place at 10:00 am on September 18th at Thomson "In the Park" Funeral Home and Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd, Winnipeg, MB.
