It's with sadness that we announce the passing of Orton Ramsey Frayer on September 16, 2022.
Orton was born on April 25, 1956 to Helen Marie and Orton Richard in Winnipeg.
He was the youngest of five boys.
Orton grew up in Winnipeg and attended Tec Voc where he earned a degree in Printing.
He used his skills to run a successful printing company where his meticulous attention to detail produced many beautiful advertisements, invitations and other printed products.
Orton also loved to play cribbage and earned many trophies over the years.
Cats were one of Orton's favourite things. He could often be found feeding strays, waiting with food and water until he was able to earn their trust enough so that he could pet them and bring them indoors to keep them safe from the harsh Winnipeg winters.
Orton was predeceased by his parents, his brother Ron (2004), Barry (2011), Bob (2014) and Bill (2019).
Left to mourn his passing are his loving sister-in-law Marlene, niece Kimmie (Sean); great-nieces, Dynika, Raihanne (Damien); and a tiny baby great-great-niece named Scarlett.
Marlene will miss their many talks about CTV's Adorable Adoptables and the many other TV shows they both enjoyed.
Thank you to Kelli, Cindy and Larry for all your help at the block, and to all the staff at Health Sciences Centre.
A special thank you to Nurse Patty for helping ensure Orton remained comfortable in his last moments.

Rest easy. We love you.
May you be at peace.
Love you always.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • "Ortty" was a friend of my brother, as a teen, who would drop by the family home and play cribbage with us. I knew the Frayer family quite, well and was shocked to read the death of "Ortty". He truly, was good cribbage player and he oftentimes, would win. Haven't seen Ortty for many years and this was very, sad news. RIP Ortty! - Posted by: RANDY FISHER (Family friend) on: Sep 24, 2022

  • To Orton’s Family, My heartfelt condolences! May your treasured memories of Orton help to ease your sorrow! Orton and I were childhood friends. We lived down the back lane from each other. We went from K - Grade 6 together at Fort Rouge School. In Grades 5 & 6 we were always in completion for having the best penmanship and having our writing displayed in the hall. We were usually partners on patrol duty. We remained friends into our late 20’s by always remembering to send a birthday card to the other. Then we went our separate ways. I am glad he was my class mate and friend. I can look back with a smile on my times with Orton! - Posted by: Wendy Morris (Childhood friend) on: Sep 24, 2022
