WILLIAM (BILL) ROBERT
ANDREWS JR.

Peacefully at the Luther Home, dad passed away September 10, 2022 at the age of 81.
Bill is predeceased by his wife of 42 years, Brenda; parents, William Sr and Edith Andrews and niece Cathryn McLeod.
Dad is survived by daughter Wendy (Mike); sister Betty; brother Jim (Ellen); special friend Susan; along with numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
Dad was born on May 12, 1941 in Birds Hill, MB where he resided his entire life, along with many generations before him. At age 15, dad began working at the Birds Hill Gravel pit and from there began his 50 year career in the trucking industry. Dad took pride in the many pristine Mack trucks he owned through the years.
Dad was known for his genuine kindness, his sense of humour, his work ethic, his punctuality and his incredible ability to remember details from days past. If you needed to know the weather on April 10, 1970, he was the one to ask.
Dad had an extensive network of friendships and was affectionately known as Sergeant Bilko through the years. Not once did he ever go anywhere, in any province, any city, without hearing "Hey Bilko" through the crowd. Always a smile, always a kind word. He was one of the good ones.
Dad, we will miss your presence in our lives, our chats and our laughs. Thank you for setting an example for us how to be thoughtful, caring and kind to others.

He never looked for praises
He was never one to boast
He just went on quietly working
For the ones he loved the most

His dreams were seldom spoken
His wants were very few
And most of the times his worries
went unspoken too

He was there, a firm foundation
Through all our storms of life
A sturdy hand to hold onto
In times of stress and strife

A true friend we could turn to
When times were good or bad
One of our greatest blessings
The man that we called dad

A special thank you to Susan for your unwavering support and kindness you showed dad through this difficult time. We also thank the staff at Luther Home for the compassion and dignity you had shown to dad.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9.
At dad's request, cremation has taken place. He will be laid to rest at Sunnyside Cemetery. As per his wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date.

We love you Dad and will never forget you. Rest in Peace. Until we meet again.

  • Sharing in your sadness as you remember your Dad. We have so many wonderful stories of your father! He would be at the center of any party, people laughing all around. He should have been on stage, his imitations were legendary! He will be sadly missed. Hold those beautiful memories close.
