M. CHARLOTTE WELLS
(nee BLAIR)
November 20, 1932 - September 21, 2022
Charlotte passed away at St Joseph's Health Centre in Toronto, at the age of 89. She has joined her late husband of 60 years, Bill Wells.
She was a loving mother to her daughter Valerie, son-in-law John Hastings and their two sons, Evan and Alan. She will be sorely missed by her two sisters, Eileen Knight of Fredericton and Shirley Ferrier of Halifax, by her brother-in-law, Rod Lindsay of Winnipeg and by many nieces and nephews (including "greats"). She will also be missed by many friends in Winnipeg and at her most recent home, Hearthstone by the Bay in Etobicoke.
Charlotte was born and raised in Elmwood. She was the fourth of seven children. Bill and Charlotte raised their family in Transcona. Many enjoyable family vacations were shared with Charlotte's siblings and their families. The Wells' little trailer travelled many miles in the US and Canada! They also enjoyed camping at Betula and Falcon Lake.
Charlotte started working as a bowling alley pinsetter when she was about 15. Her first "real" job was as a telegraph operator. She went on to work in customs and traffic for over 15 years.
During their retirement years, Bill and Charlotte enjoyed travelling to see their grandchildren and to Florida to spend time with Charlotte's sister Shirley. They enjoyed their larger trailer at Pye's Landing and vacations with the Hastings'. While back in Winnipeg, they enjoyed their time playing Bridge with friends. They were also very active in St. Georges Transcona Anglican Church.
After Bill passed, Charlotte relocated to Toronto. She enjoyed spending time with her new friends - playing Bridge and knitting.
Many thanks to the ICU team at St. Joseph's Healthcare Centre (Toronto).
Celebrations to remember Charlotte are being planned for Toronto and Winnipeg. This obituary may also be viewed at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home & Cemetery. www.arbormemorial.ca/en/chapellawn
