DARVIN ALFRED JASPER
1944 - 2022
Following a difficult struggle with Leukemia, Darvin died on September 24, 2022, in the loving care of Sharon, his wife of 55 years, and his cherished family. Children: Michael (Deirdre) and Paula (Stan); grandchildren: Jacob (Chantal), Kieran (Kira), MacKinley, Magdalynn and Terri (Travis), along with extended family and dear friends, supported him through every step of this challenging journey.
Darvin had many interests, gifts and talents: builder, designer, baker, chef, music lover, artist, entertainer, master of hospitality and eager contributor to so many community and St. Mary Anglican Church projects.
He was a "proud country boy" who worked hard right to the end. He lived life humbly, generously and non-judgementally, freely offering his time, skills and resources to family and friends.
Heartfelt thanks are extended to the staff of GD6 Health Sciences Centre who went above and beyond in their efforts to secure a remission. We also wish to acknowledge the compassionate care of the palliative care team who helped make it possible for Darvin to come home to be with us for his last weeks.
The family invite friends to gather with us to honour Darvin with an afternoon of music, song and stories on Saturday, October 22 at 2:30 p.m. in the Royal Ball Room at the Viscount Gort Hotel, 1670 Portage Ave.

I am truly saddened by Darvin’s passing. He was such a kind and generous person. I considered him a father figure, always there for my Mum and our family, especially after Dad passed away. I was so impressed with his well rounded talents in just about anything. He built my Mum’s kitchen, and her deck. I remember being entertained by Darvin and Dad in our backyard many times. They both had no fear in strumming their guitars and singing their hearts out. They really should have started a “boy band”. I remember Darvin and Dad visiting us in Calgary and how they were two peas in a pod, like brothers. My Dad loved Darvin and their time together. My Dad often referred to their trip together as one of his favourites. I will miss Darvin, his calming demeanor, and his endless kindness. I am very sad for Sharon and the family. Darvin will be dearly missed. While broken-hearted, I find peace and truly believe that Darvin and Dad are once again reunited, planning their next road trip, playing their guitars and once again singing their hearts out. - Posted by: Andrew Suthern (Family Friend) on: Oct 01, 2022
