KENNETH JAMES MACDONALD
After a lengthy illness, Kenneth James MacDonald was mercifully released from his suffering and pain on Thursday, September 29, 2022.
Ken will be very sadly missed by his longtime partner Ann-Marie Thomson and by his siblings, Brian (Valerie), Heather (Craig) and Colin (Glenda), along with several nieces and nephews.
Ken was born on January 20, 1963 to Norman and Eileen MacDonald. He grew up in St. Vital and lived in that area for most of his life. Ken worked for many years for the Red River Exhibition and Burns Meats and spent the last few years working in northern Manitoba on the Keeyask Hydro Dam project.
Some of the most special times for Ken were spent at his cabin in Grand Marais, where he was surrounded by his family and many friends. In the last several years Ken also looked forward to his annual trip to Puerto Vallarta with his beach friends.

My deepest heartfelt condolences to all of the Macdonald Clan, and Ken’s Family, Friends, and loved ones. I always found Kenneth to be a large gentle souled teddy bear of a man with a rugged exterior and kind thoughtful interior. He always went out of his way to say hello and shake hands and ‘cheers with our beers’ when our paths would cross…usually at The Marion Hotel or in the Grand Marais/Grand Beach areas. Our hearts are with Anna and family. Ken’s brothers and sister along with their families. I known Ken for many years, in the city and at Grand Marais, PH curling. Oh how I will miss this big guy. His soft but larger than life presence, his sneaky grin/giggle, his kindness, his thoughtfulness, his sense of humor...there is so much more I could say about Kenny J. I will hold all the memories, the many laughs and the great times we had at his cabin in Grand Marais close to my heart. To my best friend, Anna, I am so so very sorry for the huge loss you are feeling...I'm there for you my dearest friend.
