DAVID BRUCE CAMPBELL
July 21, 1940 - September 30, 2022

Beloved oldest son of Dr. Murray Campbell (Physician) and Bettie Campbell (nee Watt). Spent first seven years at Dynevor, MB, then to Winnipeg, went to Fox Lake every summer and really enjoyed boating, canoeing and lots of fun times with cousins. His birthday is July 21, was a fun time. Many happy times with family in Minaki and train rides. Also going into caves, bonfires, etc.
Was very into Scouts. Went to England in 1955 for a Scout Jamboree. Stayed a year and worked at Liberty's of London (Fabric Store). Also to Paris.
Later worked as a teacher and also in Unemployment Office. Suffered from some chronic health problems but had a strong spiritual faith which helped. Never complained. Helped our mom a lot especially during her later later years. Took her on a lot of car rides and made her life better. Had family over to dinner and helped his sister over a rough time. Unfortunately he developed cancer and even with so much pain always did his best to do things. Very courageous.
Always loving remembered by brother Harvey (Mireille); nieces, Catherine (Dan), Amélie (Pedro) and Sara (Chris); great-nieces, Mila and Magali and Sophie; and sister Shelagh.
Last few weeks at Misericordia Health Centre. Thanks to staff.
There will be a service at St. Stephen and St. Bede Church, 99 Turner Ave., St. James.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • David was a friend from my years at St Bedes and St Stephens. He was always a very spiritual person and a kind person. Two nice qualities to get you through life. It was interesting hearing a bit of his interests and experiences from his early years. Rest in peace David and may light perpetual shine upon you. - Posted by: Catherine Lee (Friend) on: Nov 01, 2022

  • Mr. Campbell was my 6th grade teacher in the 70’s. I remember for the first time being concerned about my grade in his class. I wasn’t sure I was going to pass. I’ll always recall his kind words when I told him my worry… “You are going to pass with flying colours” He rebuilt my confidence in myself with that one statement. • DB's Family, DB was in my Scout Troop 27th Winnipeg St. Georges. Yes, a passionate Scout. We crossed paths many times after and very frequently waved as he and his Mother were on one of their many drives through Westwood. His commitment and never ceasing striving are to be remembered.
