THOMAS (TOM) HEGGIE
August 6, 1935 - September 27, 2022

It is with sadness that the family of Thomas R. Heggie announce his passing on September 27, 2022 after a long journey with dementia.
Tom is survived by his loving wife Muriel; sons, Rod, Scott and their families. He was predeceased by his wife Mary, sister Avril and brother William who resided in Scotland.
Tom immigrated to Canada at the age of 17 and worked for the Hudson's Bay Company in La Ronge, SK, Dept. of Indian and Northern Affairs and Parks Canada as Supt. of Fundy, Cape Breton Highlands, Banff and Pacific Rim National Parks. Tom served as Assistant Regional Director in Winnipeg. He travelled across Canada and journeyed to Europe. Tom was well respected by all who knew and worked with him. He hosted federal and foreign dignitaries from across the globe.
Many, many thanks to all the staff at Cairnsmore Place (where he spent nearly six years) for their outstanding care. You are all angels.
There will be no service - a toast of red wine will be suffice.
If you wish, a donation to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of your choice is appreciated.

Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • I was fortunate to work for Tom at the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve. A superb boss and a true gentleman. I truly regret not keeping in touch with Tom over the years. Muriel, many of us share your loss. - Posted by: howie hambleton (work associate) on: Mar 11, 2024

  • Could you please contact myself. My maiden name is Heggie, my Dad George Heggie born in Glasgow, Scotland 1927. Could your Dad have been a relative? He was 8yrs old when his Dad passed but was sure he had cousins in Scotland. Could they be your Dad and William. He never made it back to his home but my son was very close to my Dad and would be so excited to find out we found his relatives. His Dad's name was Hugh Heggie. There are no family members still alive, Dad was the last in his family and he passed about four years ago. Thank you for reading this. - Posted by: Pam Hayward (Friend) on: Nov 15, 2022
