ELSA SYDORKO
1945 – 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elsa on September 21, 2022.
Elsa is survived by her brother David (Pat), nieces, nephews and extended family. Elsa was predeceased in September 2021 by her loving husband Steve, of 49 years.
Elsa and Steve worked together in their seasonal fast-food restaurant in Lac du Bonnet and enjoyed winters in Florida and Texas. Their travels included Nashville, where they were big fans of the Grand Ole Opry and were passionate about Bluegrass music.
Elsa, the ultimate shopper, was happiest when Steve dropped her off at the mall for a day of shopping and particularly, buying! Born and raised in Winnipeg, Elsa embraced the country life and affectionately cared for the chickadees, hummingbirds and chipmunks that shared their parklike setting along the river in Lac du Bonnet.
After confronting her own anxiety and panic attack issues, Elsa found her calling in first volunteering and then becoming a group facilitator for Anxiety Disorders Association of Manitoba (ADAM). She added a spark to every family gathering with her humour and practical jokes that were especially enjoyed by children. If she knew it was your birthday, she made sure to call you and sing Happy Birthday repeatedly.
Her resume stated that "I like to keep busy". This typified her life.

Rest easy, girl. We will miss you so much.

Private interment has taken place.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • So sorry to learn of Elsa’s passing. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. My personal experience with Elsa was when she hired me to work at their dairy bar - with the first rule, NO EXCEPTIONS: “YOU have to eat your mistakes”! Trust me, after enjoying and eating my many ice cream mistakes, I didn’t last too long! She was wonderful to work with. Smart as a whip. Knew her responsibilities, her customers, how to cook and how to make a triple soft chocolate cone without dropping it on the floor! Elsa was a lot of fun, a great role model and an exceptional woman to work with. We became friends, had good times and lots of laughs! Will miss her dearly. Rest peacefully Elsa. - Posted by: Leona Butchart (Friend ) on: Oct 10, 2022
