IRENE MIKLOVIC
(nee GEDEON
)
September 17, 1943 – October 4, 2022

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Irene Miklovic (née Gedeon). Irene passed peacefully, surrounded by family after a brief battle with cancer.
Irene is survived by her son George and his wife Joan; daughter Diana and her husband Joe (Holstead). She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Jonathan and Emily Miklovic and Arlo Holstead. She is predeceased by husband John, of 57 years, earlier this year.
Irene was born in Slovakia to parents, Elizabeth and Ervin Gedeon; also predeceased by brothers, Ervin and Albert; and sisters, Mary and Elizabeth. She also leaves behind a large extended family overseas, with whom she enjoyed keeping in regular contact.
Working as a teacher, first in Slovakia, then in Canada for almost 40 years, she was well loved by students and colleagues alike. Irene cared deeply for all under her care and approached education with enthusiasm, joy and wonder.
Irene had many artistic talents, from dance and choreography to painting and drawing. She loved art and history, gardening, reading and spoke seven languages. She enjoyed summers at the cabin with family and was very active outdoors her entire life.
Irene was the kind of lady who lit up a room, always stylish, full of fun, adored cooking and entertaining. She also had a heart of gold, was always kind, supportive and caring. A loving mother and doting grandmother, Irene will be greatly missed but never far from our hearts.
A service will be held on Thursday, October 13, 2022, at 1:00 p.m., at the Glen Lawn Funeral Home at 455 Lagimodiere Blvd., followed by a reception. All are welcome to attend to celebrate Irene's life.
