DOUGLAS ALFRED COX
March 2, 1961 - October 12, 2022
Peacefully with family by his side, Doug passed away at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 25 years, Cathy; daughters, Cassidy (Tyler), Christina (Ian); his granddaughter Mila, mother Lovina, brothers and sisters-in-law, and his numerous nieces and nephews. Doug was predeceased by his dad Robert, stepdad Michael; brothers, Rob and Dennis; and sister Barb.
Dad was born and raised in Selkirk where he played numerous sports and made lifelong friends. Dad had just retired this past summer after over 43 years in the Aerospace Industry, completing his career at Boeing. His favourite things to do included camping, golfing, barbecuing and having a few drinks with friends. Mom and Dad were able to enjoy countless trips with each other and play many different golf courses over the years. Dad accomplished many things in his life, but he was most proud of his kids and his granddaughter.
Dad made an impact on every person he met, and he was always bound to run into someone he knew every time he went out. Dad will be missed by every single person he knew, and his passing leaves a huge hole in our hearts. He was the greatest Dad and husband we could have asked for and he will be missed every single day.
We want to thank the incredible nursing staff, healthcare aides and physicians on the surgical ward at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre for being so caring and attentive. Although Dad's passing was quick, we find comfort in knowing he did not suffer.
A Celebration of Life will take place on October 16, 2022 at the Selkirk Golf and Country Club from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honour of Doug to the Canadian Cancer Society directed to Pancreatic Cancer Research.
We love you Dad and
we will see you again.
Condolences may be left on his tribute wall at www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk
in care of arrangements.

I was truly saddened to read about Doug! I had bumped into him at the bank back in 2017, he was his usual self, happy, upbeat, talkative, and had finished his first bout of cancer further back then! I often thought how he was doing and never ran into him again! I will always think of him every time I open an individual piece of Kraft cheese , because when at work in the coffee line he would ask me to open it for him, because they are a pain sometimes to open! I'd say to him" that's all you are having for breakfast? Coffee & cheese? " I wasn't aware he had gone back to work again! He always made you laugh! So very sorry for your loss, truly a great guy! Dear Cathy and family, our sincere condolences for your loss. It was always fun competing with you and we will always have a chuckle when we were cooking in Regina in the monsoon! What a weekend. Surprising your brisket was not flying down Main Street. May he rest in peace. Wayne & Trish Shymko - Posted by: Wayne and Trish shymko (friends) on: Oct 14, 2022

I worked with Doug at Bristol Aerospace back in the late 80s early nineties. Although we only became friends at work he was easy to laugh with, and we had many conversations about golf a mutual love of both of us. I missed him when he left Bristol and I missed our daily talks and jokes and I am very sorry to hear of his passing. My condolences to his wife and family. I'm sure he will be missed by all.
