ROGER WILLIAM GAUTHIER
December 14, 1944 October 14, 2022
It is with great sorrow, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Roger Gauthier on Friday, October 14, 2022.
Roger will be remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 55 years, Gertrude and his son Andre (Leanne).
Also leaving to mourn are his grandchildren, Tristen (Shannon), Ryan, Kharley and Devan and great-granddaughter Penelope. Roger was predeceased by his parents, Rita and William Gauthier; sister Jeannine Claremont and his son Philippe. Roger will also be mourned by sisters, Georgette, Lucille (Marcel), Mona, Suzanne (Guy) and brothers, Henry (Dianne) and Alex (Florence); as well as many nieces and nephews.
Roger was born December 14, 1944 and grew up in Ste. Genevieve, MB, until he and Gert married and finally settled in Lorette, MB in 1970, where together they raised their two sons.
Roger held many jobs ranging from butchering, production and finally settling in to operate gravel trucks for the RM of Lac Du Bonnet until his retirement in June 2021, whereas then he and Gert moved to Richer, MB.
As a young father, Roger enjoyed playing, coaching and watching hockey games with his sons and was a devoted Montreal Canadiens fan, who very rarely missed watching a game and held very intense conversations with Ryan and Tristen about what that team should be / or should not be doing!
Roger was an avid outdoorsman who loved his fishing and hunting. He spent his summers on the lake in Lac Du Bonnet chasing walleye and hunting in the fall, always looking for that trophy buck with Andre and Philippe.
The family wishes to thank the handful of strangers who took the time to assist Mom on that Friday afternoon, as well as the Steinbach RCMP, paramedics and ER Staff at Steinbach hospital.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. in Green Acres Funeral Home, Highway #1 East at Navin Road, Winnipeg.
