DAVID JOHN MOWAT
January 15, 1951 - October 17, 2022

It's with great sadness and broken hearts our strong willed dad, papa, brother, brother-in-law and good friend is now reunited with the love of his life Vicky.
He leaves behind his two daughters, Melanie (Henry), Tracy (Dallas) and the pride and joy of his life his four grandchildren, Donavon, Alyssa, Dallas Jr. and Kayden; as well as his two sisters, three brothers, sisters/brothers-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews, along with many great friends.
He was the PROUDEST PAPA of all four of his grandchildren and they knew how much they meant to him. He was very proud to carry on his father's traditional hand shake of TTFN with all his grandkids. Dad was predeceased by his wife Vicky, his parents, family members and good friends.
Dad was born on January 15, 1951 in Winnipeg and grew up in the North End. He met Vicky and they were high school sweethearts. Dad had a lucky hand at keno, a passion for selling coffee, recently selling his business and was looking forward to retirement. Dad loved spending time with his family, especially watching the grandchildren in all their sports. Papa was their biggest fan, cheering loud from the stands.
We want to thank the medical staff at Health Sciences Centre CancerCare for all their love, compassion and care over the last weeks. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dave's memory to CancerCare Manitoba or Kids Sports.
Memorial service will be held on Wednesday, October 26 at 6:00 p.m., Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., Winnipeg, MB. In honour of Dave, we would like you to join us in wearing plaid to his service.

  • Ohhhhhhh - The fishing stories of times spent together. There were those that were shared when we came home, and those that will forever be sacred to only those who were in attendance. The laughter over the years of good times spent together as we watched our children age in front of our very eyes. The memories will never be lost and will live forever. • I am deeply saddened that my special friend has passed. For many many years I have been his “Barber”. That’s who he told people I was. I always giggled inside when he said that. I say Hair stylist but Barber it was. We both lost the loves of our lives and spend many conversation chatting about that. We totally understood how the other felt. I’m going to miss those conversations along with the chats about his grandkids. They definitely were the light of his life. Rest In Peace my friend. I’m a better person for knowing you. Give Kenny a holler up there so you can get your hair cut from a real Barber😉 Love and hugs to all Dave’s family❤️ - Posted by: Lisa (Friend) on: Oct 22, 2022

  • Strong willed and passionate are certainly the two things I will remember best about Dave. I was fortunate to be able to chat with him late last month and his passion to make sure his long time customers would still be taken care of, even after he had sold his business was so refreshing. I respected Dave because you always knew where you stood with him. - Posted by: Trevor Westwood (Long time customer) on: Oct 22, 2022
