BIANCA RUTH BLANARU

A remarkable life lived. It is with great sadness that the family announces Bianca's passing at age 101.
Bianca leaves to mourn her sons, Louis (Janice) and Chuck (Blair), seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Bianca was predeceased by her loving husband Frank and her daughter Dina.
Bianca was an amazing person. She loved life and engaging with people and she particularly enjoyed old Hollywood movies. She fled her birthplace Bucharest, Romania while evading retreating Nazis and advancing Soviets. She and Frank permanently settled in Winnipeg in 1950. Bianca operated a number of restaurants including the canteen at the Sharon Home on Magnus. She was an amazing cook. She was a proud donor to the Endowment Book of Life through the Jewish Foundation of Manitoba. She and Frank volunteered at the Shalom Square Pavilion (Folklorama) for many years. Bianca was demonstrably appreciative of the staff at both Shaftesbury Park and the Simkin Centre. She enjoyed a wonderfully long and healthy life and her memory will forever be a blessing to those that knew and loved her.

  • All the wonderful attributes Bianca's memory entails are true. She was smart, sweet, opinionated, welcoming, funny and kind. She found a way of handling life's obstacles and then move on. She truly loved her family, worked hard all of her life, appreciated all that she achieved and was generous to share her Jewish legacy. I smile when I think of Bianca. That is the feeling, the memory, the grace of who this woman was, this is part of her legacy, I feel very lucky that she was in my life. - Posted by: Daia Gill (family) on: Oct 23, 2022

  • Louis, So sorry to hear about your mother passing. - Posted by: Shelley Jack (Friend ) on: Oct 22, 2022

  • I will always remember your mom and dad. I met your mom and dad bowling many years ago at Northgate. Mom always came with him and then I used to see your mom at campus when she lived at the Shaftesbury. I surprised your mom one evening at a Shaftesbury and she was so happy to see me. Your mom might’ve been small but she was a powerhouse of a lady. What’s the saying - good things come as small packages and your mom was the best, she will be missed. - Posted by: Faygee gecht (Friend) on: Oct 22, 2022
