SHIRLEY ANN BLAIKIE
Shirley lived for 87 years at 17 Oakleigh Place in St. Vital, Winnipeg, September 1932 to June 2020.
She was predeceased by father Frank and mother Evangeline (Scoular). Shirl is remembered for her letters in long hand to friends and family. A lover of wildlife, she took pleasure in the arrival of the crocus and the robin.
Shirley was a lifetime member of Regents Park United Church (St. Mary's Road United). She loved music and taught piano lessons from her home. Many of her working years were with Winnipeg's regional parks. Donations may be made to the Canadian Wildlife Federation, or Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre, Manitoba.
A Celebration of Life will take place at St. Mary's Road United Church on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at 613 St. Mary's Rd, Winnipeg. Reception to follow.

We were long-time neighbours of Shirley's, 17 years. The best neighbour you could ever want. She loved her yard full of flowers & Swamp Milkweed to feed the Monarch caterpillars. Shirley was game to be outside with us to watch a late night eclipse, in January. Fall Blood Moon or the Great Grey Owl in the back lane. Food sharing was common between us especially if it was spicy. I think I got the best of that trade, receiving her homemade cinnamon buns. We are glad that she was in our lives. - Posted by: Charlene & Jim Charette (long term neighbour) on: Oct 24, 2022

I was fortunate to have worked with Shirley for quite a number of years at Parks and Recreation. She was one of the kindest souls I have ever met and with a great sense of humour that more often than not ended up with some good chuckles. I think of her often and will never forget her smile. I only met Shirley a couple of times, but my father Andrew Currie sang her praises often over the years. She was a great help in his work as Director of Parks and Protection at Metro - Posted by: Roger Currie (son of Shitley's former boss) on: Oct 22, 2022
