LILLIAN BILAWKA
(nee VERBOWSKI)

Lillian Bilawka passed away October 21, 2022.
Mom was born in the Glen Elmo District in the RM of Rossburn. She was the youngest daughter of Nick and Teenie and was welcomed by her four siblings and a loving extended family. She grew up on the family farm, helping with chores while going to school. Mom and Dad married in 1951, and later moved to Winnipeg where they raised their three children.
Mom was always hard-working, both at her places of employment and at home. She loved to cook and there was always a pot of chicken noodle soup ready on the stove. Her perogies and cabbage rolls were amazing.
Mom and Dad loved to travel to visit family and to their trailer at Clear Lake. In the winter, they travelled to Hawaii and Bahamas, and their trip of a lifetime was when they went to Ukraine.
Faith was very important to Mom. She was a longtime member of both St. Basil's and St. Anne's. She took a lot of pride in being a 48-year member of the Ukrainian Catholic Woman's League. She always had a rosary within reach.
Lillian loved and was loved by her family. She was always so proud of her children and grandchildren. She had a special way of connecting with each of them and was looking forward to becoming a great-grandmother this winter.
Mom was predeceased by her parents, Nick and Teenie, her husband Joe, brothers, Harry and Mike and sisters, Anne and Lena.
She is survived by her sons, Vern (Cheryl) and Lorne (Dale); her daughter Beverlee, and grandchildren, Kalina (Alex), Towen, Brendan, and Zachary.
Prayers were held at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church on Wednesday, October 26 with Funeral Divine Liturgy on Thursday, October 27 officiated by the Very Reverend Father Mark Gnutel.
We would like to express our gratitude to the staff of Kildonan Green Assisted Living and WRHA Homecare who supported Mom in her final years.
