BERNICE ELIZABETH BILINSKY
(nee ZELISKA)

Following an epic struggle, Bernice passed peacefully in Surrey, BC on October 18, 2022.
Bernice began her journey on Thursday, March 27, 1930 in Brandon General Hospital. Born to Marjorie (nee Bancer) and Thomas Zeliska, the family lived in Rivers, MB until they moved to Winnipeg in 1939, where Bernice attended King Edward, Faraday and Issac Newton schools. Bernice was employed by several firms before having a 23-year career with the Federal government.
Foremost, she loved knitting; other loves were Bingo, Pub Nights and travelling to her favourite destination: Phoenix, Arizona. Perhaps a casino would be visited from time to time. She also enjoyed 5 and 10 pin bowling and reading. Bernice always loved eating - so long as someone else prepared the meal! Her life was held together by her faith; she loved attending church and church functions.
Bernice is survived by her children, David (Colleen) and Susan (Daryl); grandchildren, Kelsey (Darcy), Kirby (Daniel), Katie and Lauren; great- grandchildren, Arwyn, Elliott and Eliza and a host of nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband Orest (2006), her father Thomas (1962), mother Marjorie (1986), brothers, David (1991) and George (1999), sister Barbara (2018), sisters-in-law, Mae (1977), Emily (2009) and Florence (2009), brothers-in- law, Morris (2000), Gordon (2003) and Nestor (2016), and nephew Darin (1980).
Orest, George and Nestor were all employed by the Winnipeg Free Press - social gatherings always had lively discussions on the happenings at "The Press".
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 2 at St. Anne Ukrainian Catholic Church, 35 Marcie St., Winnipeg, MB at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, 4515 Main Street, West Saint Paul, MB. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

Rest in peace Mom – no more worries about lumpy gravy.
