MARLENE SANDRA RAMSAY

Peacefully on Thursday, October 20, 2022, Marlene Ramsay passed away in her home in Niverville with those she loved.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband Pall, daughter Sandra (Martin), grandson Brady, granddaughter Sydney (Adam) and her first great-grandson Nathan; her sister Carol (John), her brother George, also many dear nieces, nephews and their families.
Marlene was born in Winnipeg on June 1, 1945. She was the second oldest in a family of five. She lived in both Manitoba and Alberta as a child, had fond memories of travelling on the train, community club dances and treasured time with her mom. Marlene married Pall, her "teen angel" at 21. Marlene and Pall were married in 1967, and had their only daughter Sandra. Marlene had a long career with the Bank of Montreal where she was employed for 37 years. She worked independently for most of her career and was proud of her contributions with BMO. Marlene enjoyed sitting in a sunbeam reading a book but she also loved being a part of many activities with family and friends. She skiied, curled, golfed, threw the odd softball, was an avid fisher woman, and would walk for miles.
Marlene shared her time and talents with the world. She taught Sunday school for many years, was part of St. George's her whole life, and was part of mission and ministry, alter guild, the church sale, the development of a well in Ndoddo, she was the peoples warden, and helped in any way she could. Marlene ran a lunch program for seniors out of All Saints for years, she worked tirelessly with the Thelma Whynn project, supporting so many new mothers and babies. She volunteered with Main Street Project, and worked with West Broadway's food cupboard.
Our hearts are filled with love and gratitude to our parish family at St. George's, Crescentwood for their prayers, strength and compassion and to our many friends who day by day shared their concern, support and love. Thank you.
A memorial service will take place on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 at the Parish of St. George's at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to CancerCare Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (5 entries)

  • Marlene was a steady support for our family violence shelter program through her work with members of the Thelma Wynne Project. Our shelter staff were saddened to hear of Marlene's passing. The many hand-made infant layettes, afghans and toddler items donated by the group through Marlene made a very positive impact for vulnerable families sheltering with us. We hold Marlene in high regard and will miss seeing her. - Posted by: Pam Hadder (Willow Place family violence shelter - Thelma Wynne Project beneficiary) on: Feb 08, 2023
