RUTH KOSOWAN
We are deeply saddened to share that Ruth Kosowan, our loving Mom, Grandma and Oma, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2022, at the age of 90.
Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Lydia and William Hartig, her brother Gordon, her sister Margie, and her husband George. She leaves behind her children, Audrey (Ken) and Karen (Rick); grandchildren, Kirstin (Jay), Krystal (Owen), Amber (Kevin), Jenna (Scott) and Cole (Jenica); as well as 13 great- grandchildren who she loved dearly.
Ruth developed a strong work ethic at a young age, working on the family farm in Tolstoi, Manitoba. Even when her memory was starting to fail her, Ruth would often speak fondly of her childhood and the times spent with her siblings. She carried her determination forward as she raised her two daughters while also continuing to work on the farm. She later met George in 1957 and moved to Winnipeg where she worked at a sewing factory in the Exchange District. Ruth and George were happily married for 54 years. They spent many years travelling together and enjoying their coffee visits with family and friends.
Family gatherings were Ruth's favourite times of all. She will be remembered for the great love and concern she always showed her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Although very modest, Ruth was a woman of so many talents including her crocheting skills, sewing abilities, delicious baking, knowledge of card games and perogy making. All skills that she affectionately passed on to her family and all things that will forever remind us of Ruth.
The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the staff at Fred Douglas Lodge for the care they showed Ruth over the past four and a half years. Cremation has taken place.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
If friends and family wish, a donation in Ruth's memory can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.

I have many fond memories of coming to Winnipeg as a child with my mom Dorothy and visiting everyone there. I used to enjoy going to Ruth and George’s as she always had treats to eat. Lots of laughs as we got older and Ruth and George would stop in Regina to pick up mom on their way to many trips to Vegas. Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. She was a wonderful person and will be missed. Ken - Posted by: Ken and Sonja stone (Ken’s cousin ) on: Oct 29, 2022
