JOHN RUSSEL LETWIN
John Russel Letwin passed away suddenly with family by his side on October 25, 2022 at St. Boniface Hospital at the age of 75.
John is lovingly remembered by his children, Lanna Butler (Ken) of Toronto Ontario, Morgan Letwin of Winnipeg, and grandchildren, Addison and Emery.
John was born in Stead, Manitoba and moved to Southern Ontario as a young child. He enjoyed a long and successful career in the heavy equipment industry, later acquiring the principal Mack Truck franchise in Winnipeg, Manitoba which has remained under the family's control for 25 years.
John loved hunting, the outdoors and was avidly involved in the horse industry, raising and competitively showing quarter horses for many years.
The impression he left on those who knew and loved him will be everlasting.
He was a true gentleman who lived life on his own terms. He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered.
We love you Dad xx

Those we love don't go away. They walk beside us everyday, unseen, unheard, but always near. So loved, so missed. Give our son Shawn, your nephew a hug for us. - Posted by: Catherine and Brian (sister and brother in law) on: Nov 03, 2022
Dear J.R. Quietly, we understand the time has come to part. You will be remembered, by those who knew and loved you, for your unique sense of humour, your laughter, your foresight, your solid business sense and your good morals. Ride your favourite horse into the Sunset, Cowboy, and just beyond that last horizon, peacefully, sleep will come to your strong and brave heart. Lovingly remembered--your Sister Ileen - Posted by: Ileen Haba (Sister) on: Nov 02, 2022
I’m so sorry to hear about Mr. John Letwin. Condolences to all of his family and friends. I’ve known John for May years, worked for him and had many enjoyable hunting and fishing trips together at the Flying Fisherman’s Camp at the Gammon River. Many memories with a great friend and a true gentleman. Peter Marykuca - Posted by: Peter Marykuca (Friend ) on: Oct 30, 2022

John was the definition of a gentleman in the most classic form of the word. Without knowing, he taught us so many things; stay humble, act with grace, be generous and live well. We are so grateful to have been in your life, John. You were a mentor to us not only in business, but in life. Your confidence, guidance and that special twinkle in your eye will never be forgotten. Your beautiful and strong girls will carry on your legacy, forever. The last goodbye is the hardest one to say, this is where the cowboy rides away. Sending everlasting condolences to those who loved John. Morgan and Lanna - take solace in the fact that overwhelming pride was apparent every time he spoke of you both. - Posted by: Chelsa Carter and Dennis Eleuterio (Family Friend) on: Oct 29, 2022
