JOYCE CHRISTINE KOHUT
Joyce peacefully passed away on October 25, 2022 at Donwood Manor at the age of 88 years.
She was preceded by her husband Larry on January 22, 2021; her parents, Hans and Svava Spring and her brother John and his wife Marian. She is survived by her sister Gladys Rozecki (Bill); her sister Doris Luprypa (Edward) and many nieces and nephews.
Joyce lived a good life. She was a loving and supportive wife, a dedicated teacher, a trusted friend, a loyal sister and a kind and generous aunt. Family was very important to Joyce and Larry and they hosted many family holiday events.
Joyce grew up and attended school in Riverton until at the young age of 17. She left high school to try permit teaching. She then attended teachers' college, where she met Larry. They married a year later and began their long and productive teaching careers, first in a two-room schoolhouse in Hnausa, where they made many lasting friendships both with students and parents and then in Winnipeg, where they obtained their education degrees and continued to teach for the next 30 plus years.
Joyce and Larry enjoyed playing sports together including bowling, curling and especially golfing. They were members of Pine Ridge Golf Course for many years and spent their winters golfing in Florida. They were also great sports fans, following the fortunes of the Jets, the Bombers, the Blue Jays and the Vikings, and Joyce often won a bottle of wine for picking the winner in the friendly football pool. Truly two lives well lived! May they both rest in peace.
At Joyce's request, cremation will take place. Her ashes will be buried next to Larry's in the Memorial Gardens at Pine Ridge.
A family celebration of life will be held at a later date. Thank you to the Donwood Manor staff for their kindness and the care they provided to Joyce.

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)
We wish to extend our condolences to Joyce’s family. I bowled with both Larry and Joyce for many years. Also Joyce and I would attend many operas in the day. It was a night out for both of us. We may not of known what was going on but we had a great time. For many years we exchanged Christmas cards. It was always nice to receive a card from them. I have thought about both Joyce and Larry for many years. They will not be forgotten. Iris and Herb Andrusyshyn (former bowlers). - Posted by: Iris Andrusyshyn (Friends) on: Oct 29, 2022
We are saddened today as we read of Joyce's passing. They were our neighbors for the past 13 years until Larry's illness required them to leave their home. We shared many a glass of wine, conversation and sunshine with them and Hans was part of the super bowl and stanley cup pool; and yes Joyce usually won and Hans had to give her two bottles of her favorite wine! Larry presented me (Tanis) with a bag of his favorite golf balls (as he had to give up golf) and told me they may help me improve my game! They were great neighbors and always had an eye out when we were away. We miss them. May they rest in peace. - Posted by: Hans & Tanis Goretzki (Neighbours) on: Oct 29, 2022
I wish to extend my condolences to Joyce's family. I knew both Larry and Joyce. They used to live across the street from my parent's home for many years. Joyce was always exceptionally nice and very soft spoken. You don't get wonderful neighbours like that anymore. They will not be forgotten.
