Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Penny and I are sad to learn Ron, "The Maze" has died. We first met him near 50 years ago when he was with then Manitoba Liberal Party leader, Charles Huband. We never pass the corner of Lilac and Corydon, where his office was, without thinking of him. From time to time over the years we'd bump into each other, the last time a couple of years ago walking on Pembina Highway not far from his home, and catch-up. Ron was always involved in something interesting and it was a joy to learn of his latest work. He was truly a remarkable man focused on helping others. Our city, our province, our country are better places thanks to him. - Posted by: Sheldon and Penny Bowles (Friend ) on: Nov 07, 2022

  • I had the pleasure of working with Ron and the organization, Ours Winnipeg when trying to save Blumberg Golf Course. He was a very wise person and very humble. Our efforts were successful due to the tireless workings of him and his colleagues at Ours Winnipeg. He also had a quirky sense of humour. My condolences go out to his friends and family. He will be missed. - Posted by: Brenda McEachern (Acquaintance) on: Nov 05, 2022

  • Ron was a critical member of the environmental group OURS-Winnipeg. His thoughtful, reasoned and astute opinions were instrumental in guiding the group. His political smarts were unrivalled. He was a gentle soul. His leadership and presence will be sorely missed. - Posted by: Shelley Sweeney (friend) on: Oct 29, 2022

  • I grew up in Whytewold, Manitoba and went to school with Ronnie. His mother was our teacher and Ronnie was a dear friend. He was a very special man, very intelligent, had integrity and anyone who had the honour or privilege of knowing Ronnie was very lucky. “Rest In Peace, my friend”.
