ETHEL DOREEN HODGSON
1947 - 2022
After a lengthy illness, Doreen passed away peacefully on October 26, 2022, due to dementia.
Doreen was predeceased by her parents, John and Anna Marie Schmidt; her adopted mom Nancibelle Arnold; and two older brothers, Donnie and Bruce.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Kerri (Glen); their two children, Rylan and Norah; and by her best friend and companion, Lorelie.
Doreen was a pistol! Warm and witty, she loved to laugh and found her joy in getting the whole room laughing with her. Friendly, happy, and jolly describes her best. Everybody loves a comic and she was a natural! But she also had a big, big heart, and felt deeply. She loved people, and animals of all shapes and sizes. They were always a source of joy. She found comfort and delight not only in her own pet dogs and cats but also in rescuing others out of her home for as long as possible. There will have been a happy reunion at the Rainbow Bridge by now!
Doreen also loved music of all kinds, road trips, classic cars and anything with 'wheels'. She loved her job at Goldin and Co., Winnipeg, and had many friends there as well.
Thank you, Doctor Frans (van der Westhuizen) for your kind and gentle doctoring. Thank you, Home Care (Wetaskiwin County) - cheerful, warm and capable angels, every one of you. Because of you and Doctor Frans, Doreen was able to stay in her home throughout her illness - a gift to her beyond measure.
We are so grateful.
There will be no service at this time.
"Now to her lap the incestuous Earth
The son she bore has ta'en.
And other sons she brings to birth
But not my friend again."
