BEATRICE MCMAHON
(nee SANDERSON)
May 17, 1938 - October 25, 2022
With deep sadness, the family of Bea McMahon announces her passing.
Bea's childhood was spent on the Shoal Lake farm as the eldest of 10 siblings. When she moved to Teulon, she met and married Bill McMahon. Over the course of 64 years, they raised their four daughters, and became part of Teulon's history by owning and operating Bill and Bea's Variety Store for 35 years. Bill and Bea were due to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary this December.
Mom was a member of the Teulon United Church for 60 years. She loved going to church and singing in the choir. Mom loved fiddle and country music. She taught herself to play the 12-string guitar, and even sang and played on the Western Hour! Mom had a beautiful voice and loved singing, right up until the end.
One of Mom and Dad's favourite past-times was harness racing. They owned and trained several race horses and spent a lot of time at Assiniboia Downs and summer fairs. They were also able to partake in some international travel. Mom loved watching baseball, playing bingo, horseshoes, and was an avid curler. One of her favourite games was crib - she loved playing it and often came home from local tournaments with the skunk trophy, which she would proudly show off and laugh!
Mom struggled with bipolar disorder for most of her adult life, but was finally able to enjoy stable mental health in her senior years. When it became too difficult for her to manage at home, Mom moved into Goodwin Lodge, where she received wonderful care. Our family is so grateful to all the staff at Goodwin for their care and compassion, especially as Mom's dementia progressed. Even as her memory continued to decline, we could still see the essence of our mom, through her singing and laughing, and her brilliant smile that would light up a room!
Bea leaves behind to mourn, her husband Bill; daughters, Kathy, Donna (Chuck), Melody (Darrell), Crystal (Todd); grandchildren, Todd, Samantha, Kyla, Sharlene, Shannon, Megan, Michael, Brittany, and their families. She also leaves her siblings, Esther, Denise, Bernice, Art, Eileen; sister-in-law Shirley, brother-in-law Abe, and their families, plus many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A private family service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to Goodwin Lodge or Teulon Community Health Foundation.

Bea was a good friend of mine. We sang together on that Talent show in Winnipeg. Cliff Lindstrom, my cousin played lead guitar and I also played guitar and sang harmony with Bea. We didn't win, however, we had fun. I'm so sorry for your loss. With deepest, Irene Peace - Posted by: Irene Peace nee Lundgren (Good friend) on: Dec 13, 2022
